Pittway Bros., a crocodile Gladstone type travelling case with silver mounted fittings, the fittings by Norman Marshall, London 1901 and 1902, the double-ended medicine spoon by Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater, London 1902, the ten jar and bottle covers and the shaving brush each engraved with a monogram ‘GP’ (another from another case), ivory mounted accessories including two steel boot pulls and various brushes, a manicure set in a leather folder, a stationery folder, a portable mirror and a leather cigar case, gilt stamped ‘Pittway Bros, London, EC1’, the exterior stamped ‘G. B. P.’, 47cm (18 ?in) long. Volume I of The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths (Woodbridge, 1987), p. 368 mentions William Tween and Frederick Purnell under the entry for Pittway Brothers. They are recorded as having bought the firm, listed in London directories as being a manufacturer of desks and dressing cases, circa 1861.

6 interesting items. A German tin-plate hinged case for a pocket watch with a clear front, the back embossed with Iron Cross within a wreath, `1914` and scroll `In Treue Fest`. With a small applied Zeppelin to top. Diameter 5cm. A travellers folding hair brush fitted within a grey painted tin, the lid is embossed with an airship and open touring car, C.1910. Action AF. 10cm x 6cm. A tin for `Mico` crayons with a view of an ocean liner, an airship and a speed boat on the lid, 8cm x 5cm. A folding double mirror in leatherette case with applied Zeppelin to cover. Mirrors worn. 2 display cards of hooks and eyes by `BATO` each with a small panel featuring a Zeppelin. Some eyes missing. A travelling toilette kit in a small leather case. Comprising 6 glass containers with red and silver metal lids in Art-Deco style, together with a similar hair brush and a mirror. Plus an additional retaining strap. The lid of the case is decorated with a roundel with an image of the Hindenburg and a passenger aircraft. It bears the inscription `Airship Hindenburg Exclusive Connecting Services American Airlines Inc`. The case is complete with its outer protective canvas cover. Case GC some wear to finish, illustrated on Plate 26.
HRH Princess Louise (1848-1939) (daughter of Queen Victoria) Sketch book containing 74 water-colours, sketches and pencil drawings The sketch book starts with a preface as follows;"In nature`s presence many a wretchProclaimed aloud his feelings gush;When silent I with hasty sketchWould paint her language with my brush:Thus something of the joy she gaveFor other days I tried to save;And make the scenes I gathered hereIf not to art to memory dear."It contains sketches made by the Princess as she and her new husband. the Marquis of Lorne (later Duke of Argyll) set off on their honeymoon to Italy. They left on 2nd April 1871 by train and the earliest sketch is dated 14th April. By following the dates one can obtain the detail of her itinerary through Italy. The first sketches are of Wurzberg which is close to where her sister Princess Alice who was married to Prince Louis of Hesse lived at Darmstadt. They are known to have met only briefly on that occasion. After the Honeymoon sketches, there are later sketches many in the Scottish highlands, the latest inscribed date being 1877.
