ANDY WARHOL / THE VELVET UNDERGROUND PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE FIRST MOD WEDDING 1966: a collection of nine negatives 9.5cm x 12cm, with nine corresponding black and white photographs 25cm x 25cm, the images include Andy Warhol, the Velvet Underground and Nico taken at the Michigan State Fairgrounds, Detroit, November 20, 1966, together with an original MOD wedding invitation and envelope, and a copy of the original press release covering the wedding events, sold with an accompanying letter of provenance from Al Abrams, who came up with the concept of 'the Carnaby Street Fun Fair, a three day festival, highlighted by the nation's first MOD wedding of Randi Rossi to Gary Norris. Abrams contacted Warhol to stage 'a happening' at the event, later becoming promotions director with Tamla Records, and director of public relations for Motown.

It also served as the wallpaper decorating the exhibition space at ICA. Of the six thousand copies printed, five thousand were folded and mailed as invitations, 300 adorned the walls, 300 were sold during the exhibition, and the remainder were used in later exhibitions by the artist.

The record is in sublime Ex+ condition with perhaps one or two extremely faint and wispy paper markings showing under a very strong light source. Very smart and clean labels. The sleeve is in similar, outstanding Ex+ condition with but slight corner wear.
