Bronze giltTibet , 20th century Dimension: Height 13 cm Width 10 cm Depth 7 cmWeight: 435 grams Depictions of spiritual masters in Tibetan Buddhism show mostly deceased lamas who acquire divine features only after their death. They were made for commemorative purposes for the disciples. Representations were usually individualized and stereotypical, however they can bear small details which makes them distinguishable apart from a dedicatory inscriptions. This lama is seated cross-legged on rectangular cushions with decorative patterns on the side. His hands are gently lying on his knees, he is wearing flowy robes and a pleated cloak, a high headdress covers his presumably bald head. He has a broad, distinctive face and is smiling lightly. The statue is hollow.

The panel presents various visible crack; starting from the left: the first crack starts from the top border and ends on the foot of the crossed man on the left; the second crack starts from the top, crosses the right hand of Christ, and continues in a straight line to the bottom; the third crack, similarly, passes from Christ's left arm and follows to the bottom; the forth crack follows the pole of the crucified on the right; while the last crack starts from the top right corner and ends at the bottom, crossing by St. John's cloak. UV light reveals various retouches scattered across. The most visible are the ones covering the abovementioned cracks, especially the first, third, and forth crack, where the applied paint is thick enough to see without UV light. Furthermore, there is a restoration of about 6cm long on the right to Christ's pelvis, and various retouches on the dress of Mary Magdalen, of which some of them up to 3cm wide; other a present above the head of Christ, on the body of the crucified man on the left, and a few more on the borders. Ca. Late 4th-3rd Century BC. An Attic red-figure bell krater, decorated with a Dionysiac scene attributed most probably to a Telos painter. The vessel features a stylised wreath pattern below the rim, egg-and-dart and palmette motifs around the handles, and a Greek key ornament on the lower part of the body. "Guy Fawkes" figurine bearing the signature "Charles Noke Sc" and the painted words "Potted by Doulton & Co" and also the Doulton stamp. In an unusual colour way with the cloak of deep reds and chocolate browns. The glaze hints at flambe work, and notably lacks an "HN" number (HN numbers were introduced in 1913). The company became Royal Doulton in 1901, and the backstamp is that of Royal Doulton. However the hand painted "Potted by Doulton & Co" perhaps indicates that the piece was made at the point of transition. At 27cm in height it is slightly taller than the HN28 figure, with its bright scarlet cloak, produced from 1918. An intriguing collector's piece.
