1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mk2 Sports SaloonRegistration no. YTD 100H (see text)Chassis no. DB6MK2/4194/ROdometer reading: 13,087MOT: Exempt*Offered without reserve*Final incarnation of the original 'DB' series of Aston Martins*Five-speed manual gearbox*Present ownership since 2008To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:With the DB6 Mk2's introduction in June 1969, the final incarnation of the original DB Series, begun in 1958 by the DB4, had arrived. The option of AE Brico fuel injection was the most significant mechanical development, while flared wheelarches, necessitated by the adoption of the wider DBS wheels, were the most obvious. In a further effort at standardisation, DBS front seats were fitted to the DB6 Mk2, which now came with power-assisted steering as standard. Last-of-the-line models are always sought after by discerning collectors, and among Aston Martins few are more highly prized that the final flowering of the glorious 'David Brown' six-cylinder series. First registered on 24th June 1970, this DB6 Mk2 has the desirable ZF five-speed manual transmission and left the factory finished in Bahama Yellow with black interior trim. A (copy) V5C document on file shows that one Trevor Clayton acquired the Aston on 24th June 2003 and that the car previously belonged (from July 1998) to John Penn (an AMOC member). The current owner purchased the DB6 from Aston Workshop in March 2008, at which time it had already been repainted red (copy invoice on file). 'YTD 100H' is listed in the HPI database; nevertheless, prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to this vehicle's registration status prior to bidding. Sold strictly as viewed and lacking original registration documents, the car will require re-commissioning and registering before further use. Import tax at the reduced rate of 5% will apply should the Lot remain in the UK.This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: ** Subject to import tax at a preferential rate on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

Lot 450

1964 Alvis TE21 DropheadRegistration no. JTW 29Chassis no. 27200Odometer reading: 40,000MOT: Exempt*An immaculate example*Fully restored*Low mileage with just two owners from new*Comprehensive historyTo view a video of this lot please click hereFounded in 1919 and sadly defunct in 1967, Alvis Motor Company specialised in traditionally styled and coach-built luxury cars. With a Rolls-Royce standard of finish, Alvis quickly magnetised an up-market following which included the likes of Prince Philip and Sir Douglas Bader. Introduced in 1963, the Alvis TE21 is an exquisite sports saloon that was also available in the form of a Drophead Coupé. Styled by Graber of Switzerland and built by Mulliner Park Ward, only 352 TE21s were originally produced – adding an air of exclusivity. This 1964 example is a Drophead Coupé bodied by Park Ward. First registered to a Mrs. J. T. Waddilove of Purley, Surrey on 12th November 1964, the car was ordered direct from the 1964 Motor Show (with the supplying dealer being Jack Barclay Limited of Berkley Square, London). The original sales invoice records show it was supplied with the current registration number 'JTW 29', power steering, chrome wire wheels, anti-freeze, and a full tank of petrol. Used by the Waddilove family until 1975, the car was sadly laid up in dry storage until 2008 whereby it was discovered and purchased by the current owner. After such a long period of inactivity, the Alvis required an extensive restoration. This included a bare metal strip down and repairs to the coachwork which was undertaken to a very high standard. Photographs in the history file show the Alvis stripped to the bare metal and entering the Aston Martin Heritage Centre works in Newport Pagnell. Although prior to the restoration the engine started and ran well, the vendor decided to convert the cylinder head to unleaded fuel specifications for greater usability. The restoration was carried out over several years, and the car was refinished in its original colour combination of Beige Metallic (resprayed by Grimshaw and Wake Ltd) and beige leather trim (renewed by Trimming Services of Cobham). The interior, with its leather and walnut dashboard and fittings, is largely original and in excellent condition. This is an incredibly elegant car that represents one of the finest and most authentic T-Series Alvis's available on the market.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 83/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1978 Aston Martin V8 Series 3 Sports SaloonRegistration no. BHJ 376S (see text)Chassis no. V8/11868/RCASOdometer reading: 6,908MOT: Exempt*Offered without reserve*Desirable Weber carburettor model*Automatic transmission*Requires re-commissioningTo view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:Introduced in 1973, the 'Series 3' version of Aston Martin's successful V8 employed a quartet of Weber carburettors instead of the previous Bosch mechanical fuel injection; the change, which necessitated a larger bonnet bulge, bringing with it increased torque, smoother running at low speeds, and improved fuel economy. Power output of the standard car was now well in excess of 300bhp and in manual transmission form the V8 could reach 100mph in around 13.5 seconds and better 160mph flat-out, with the automatic not that far behind. This automatic transmission V8 was delivered via Aston Martin (Sales) Ltd, leaving the Newport Pagnell factory finished in Madagascar Brown with Magnolia interior trim and equipped with over-riders; two Rearguard fog lamps; and a lockable centre armrest. The UK V5 registration document on file records the owner at time of issue as one Paul Salisbury of Dorset and before him (from 27th October 2007) as Miss Samantha Vincent, also of Dorset. Also on file is a copy of the Car Record Card and an invoice from Classicmobilia relating to the Aston's sale in May 2010.
