A 1973 Jensen Interceptor Series III, registration number WSB 143M, chassis number 136/9022, engine number 3C12037, metallic maroon. With the introduction of the Interceptor, Jensen changed from glass fibre bodies to steel, styled by Touring of Milan with the distinctive rear wraparound window they were instantly recognisable and offered true GT performance with cross country mile eating capability. The Series III introduced in 1971 featured a larger 7.2 litre V8, more comfortable seats, central locking and five spoke alloy wheels as standard. This particular example was purchased by the vendor as a restoration project approximately seven years ago. At the time of purchase the Jensen had a recorded odometer reading of 50,019 and had been off the road since 1990. The restoration, only recently completed, has included a bare metal respray in non-original Audi metallic maroon after the body was restored with new panels from Martin Robey. The interior has been retrimmed in cream leather by a Jensen Owner's Club recommended trimmer, the wheels have been refurbished and new tyres have been fitted. The engine and running gear has been fully checked and serviced, brakes were renewed as necessary plus numerous other items associated with a comprehensive restoration. The Jensen was MOTd in November 2015 (odometer reading 50,116) and has only been driven a few miles since. Although not verified, the vendor believes the mileage could be genuine. Interceptors have jumped in value over the last few years and are being recognised for the capable GT cars that they are. With the extensive rebuild that this example has just emerged from it should offer the next custodian great value when compared to its contemporary Aston Martin V8. The Interceptor is offered for auction with a large history file containing receipts and photographs of the restoration. V5C, MOT to November 2016, tax exempt See illustrations
