2000 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Coupé Transmission: automaticMileage:78000Regarded by many as one of the world's most beautiful cars when released in 1994, the DB7 received many subtle but effective changes over its ten-year life to complement the elegant body design. Originally designed by Ian Callum to be both beautiful and practical and encompass all the unmistakable DB styling cues, it was initially deemed a little underpowered and thus lacking in excitement. The Vantage was the first Aston Martin in 1999 to use the V12 engine and alongside styling changes enabled 420bhp. A more aggressive styling with a bigger front grille, new fog lights, side and indicator lights and imposing 18 wheels complemented the styling refresh. The Vantage interior leather trim was cut and sewn at a special trim shop at Newport Pagnell, where the carpet and wood veneers were also prepared. The Aston Martin DB7 will undoubtedly be a collectable car for years to come and is equally at home in the city or out on the open road.Originally registered on 25th March 2000, this handsome DB7 is finished in Onyx Black and is trimmed in light grey. After a two-year period off the road the vendor has set about recommissioning the car at a cost of circa £15,000. Work has been carried out on the automatic transmission, brakes, suspension and some tidying up of some minor paintwork issues. The net result of this work is a DB7 Vantage that presents in delightful condition and is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Supplied with a substantial history folder and a V5C registration document together with an MoT test certificate valid until 22nd January 2024. This stunning example has the desirable combination of V12 power and soundtrack, coupled with sumptuous luxury and effortless acceleration. The confidence in this car will certainly capture the imagination of any Aston Martin collector or enthusiast.

Lot 152

2002 Aston Martin Vanquish 2+2 Transmission: automaticMileage:10500Launched at the Geneva motor show in 2001 the Aston Martin Vanquish was hailed as “The ultimate Grand Tourer†powered by a DOHC 4 valve V12 engine producing 460hp it could propel the car from 0–60 mph in under 5 seconds and reach a top speed exceeding 190 mph. It was instantly immortalised further by featuring in the 2002 James Bond movie Die Another Day.This example was delivered new by Aston Martin Sales of Mayfair, Park Lane London on the 19th November 2002 and is a one owner example. Having covered a mere 10,500 genuine miles this fine Vanquish remains in excellent all round condition. Always serviced by Aston Martin main dealers it comes complete with a full service history and in addition was returned to the works service department in 2021 where it received an overhaul of the gearbox, a full service and a fresh MoT test certificate. Finished in Tungsten Silver with a two tone grey leather interior this 2+2 example retains all the factory glove box accessories, both the factory handbooks, warranty book and service history invoices, plus the essential Aston Martin battery tender and a fresh MoT test certificate valid until February 2024. A truly fine example of Aston Martin’s classic flagship model. Offered with the private registration number ‘V12 PLC’ valued at £10,000! This is one of the best examples we have seen and with a superb history we are sure it will be keenly contested at auction.

Lot 160

1964 Aston Martin DB5 Transmission: automaticMileage:10920At its unveiling the Aston Martin DB5 instantly became one of the most desirable and sought-after grand tourers ever created. Described by Autocar as ‘a car that defies definition’, the DB5 was all things to all men, as adept at storming the newly opened M1 motorway as it was burbling along quiet London mews—providing you could afford the hefty £4,248 price. The DB5 became an icon after being thrust into the limelight, while starring alongside Sean Connery in the 1965 James Bond spy thriller Goldfinger. Immortalised in celluloid, the Silver Birch dream machine became an overnight sensation that would alter forever, public perception not only of the model, but of the Newport Pagnell company as a whole. With a 0-60 mph sprint time of just 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 140 mph, the DB5 was the perfect tool for crossing continents in comfort, outpacing many period rivals including the fuel-injected Maserati 3500 GTI. The British machine also rivalled its European competition in terms of luxury, with a cabin trimmed in leather, reclining seats, and wool carpets cossetting its fortunate occupants. Standard equipment was also impressive, and included an alternator, chrome wire wheels, an oil cooler, power-operated windows, and twin fuel tanks. Fast, comfortable, and reassuringly expensive, the Aston Martin DB5 was one of the leading grand tourers of the 1960s—a reputation that it more than lives up to today, evolving into the marque's most timeless classic, appealing to dedicated enthusiasts and casual observers alike.First registered on 14th April 1964 chassis number 1529/R was originally finished in Platinum with red Connolly leather interior. The factory workshop sheets confirm various works carried out at Newport Pagnell up to January 1967 (at 21,691 miles). Fulham Workshops of Parsons Green (later Clapham Common) serviced the Aston for many years until they retired. In 2006 Aston Martin specialist Tim Bissett, was commissioned for a rebuild and upgrade; this work involved enlarging the engine to 4.2 litres, the fitment of fast road cams and a Billet crankshaft. Photographed in the history file is confirmation the car was used competitively for the 2001 Classic Marathon rally, wearing its number 65 and registration 2189 RD. Our highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic vendor purchased this car at a Bonhams auction in December 2017 before undertaking a full nut and bolt restoration. The two-year restoration is detailed in a hardback photo book supplied with the car showing the entire process before being completed and used for his daughter’s wedding. Part of the restoration included various upgrades to be implemented and during this restoration, our client installed a larger capacity aluminium radiator with electric fan, larger 6†wire wheels and tyres and power steering. Further enhancements include the fitment of central locking, an upgraded light system and a retro style modern DAB radio. The history file includes invoices from the restoration, together with the original order details, early servicing details and engine rebuild details from Tim Bissett. This example has been well cared for by our vendor who has owned a number of DB5’s and is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 31st May 2023.  The Aston Martin DB5 is often thought of as the ultimate quintessential British sports car, admiring the beautiful aesthetics of this curvaceous classic, it is easy to see why.* Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead.

Lot 333

Fantastic ‘Endurance’ specification G50, eligible for numerous championships and ideal for GT racing or track day use.Built to celebrate 50 years of Ginetta cars following its take-over by Lawrence Tomilson after years of fraught financial situations (including a buyout by a group of enthusiasts to save the brand from going into administration), the G50 was developed in under six months and was an immediate hit upon its launch in 2008.Winning the Autosport ‘National Car of the Year’ in its first year of production with its own Ginetta GT Supercup one-make competition series, the G50 also boasted an incredible run of victories in the British GT Championship - winning the class championship - and also won the 2009 European GT4 Cup, beating the likes of Aston Martin, BMW and Porsche.Originally designed to have a road-going stablemate, the economic recession in the late ‘noughties’ forced Ginetta to shelve their plans for a road-going G50, meaning that this lightweight, balanced and competitive GT car remained destined for a life on the track only. This particular example is an early-build 2008 G50 Challenge car which is fitted with the desirable ‘Endurance’ pack, adding options such as a heated screen for long-distance racing. It's currently finished in the perennially cool Gulf colours of Zenith Blue and Tangerine. The full specification list is as follows:3.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, dry-sump V6 engineQuaife sequential gearbox with flat-shiftQuaife limited-slip differentialMotech ECUMotech HUDTwin coolers - one for the LSD, one for the sequential transmissionOhlins suspensionAlcon brakesHeated screenCarbon-fibre air-boxCarbon-fibre rear wingAir jacksPlumbed-in fire system (to current regulations)Two sets of wheels (one with wet tyres, one with slicks)The vendor notes that new harnesses will be required to take the car racing in competition use, but there are no other known areas requiring attention. In its current ownership, the car has seen very little use. Originally purchased by the current owner with the intention of learning the famous Spa circuit, lockdown restrictions unfortunately put paid to that idea, and his attention went elsewhere, resulting in him taking up competitive rallying instead, and this G50 has seen only two ‘shakedown’ runs at Donnington Park since being purchased. Prior to the current owner’s tenure, our vendor reports that the car was used for leisure runs around Mondello Park and other Irish circuits, and the gearbox was rebuilt by Ginetta prior to his purchase. Thanks to recent rule changes allowing the use of sequential gearbox-fitted cars in various European championships, this is a fantastic opportunity to obtain a virtually race-ready and exceedingly competitive GT car that belongs on track, being pushed to its limit. Described as “easy to drive and brilliant fun” on account of its handling and 945kg dry kerb-weight, this G50 offers the next owner a ticket into the world of GT racing, wrapped up in a driver-friendly package, with plenty of aftermarket support on-hand from both Ginetta and a plethora of aftermarket specialists.SpecificationMake: GINETTAModel: G50 ENDURANCE SPECYear: 2008Chassis Number: LT-034Registration Number: N/ATransmission: QuaifeEngine Number: 0000839Drive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Well known, competitive race car that has now become a flexible and refined, road-going Grand Tourer. This lovely Aston Martin DB4 was repatriated to the UK in 1965 having belonged to an eminent doctor who had led a pilot Malaria eradication project in Kuala Lumpur and subsequently allocated the registration it wears today. It was completely restored in the seventies and remained in road trim before being converted into a 'Lightweight' DB4 and embarking on a illustrious racing campaign. Famous in AMOC racing circles, it has been raced by Andy Jenkinson and the late Peter Wheeler of TVR fame who spent much of his considerable resources constantly improving the race car. It was purchased by renowned racer Sean Brown in 2008 and raced with great success by him until around 2013.With such a continuous proven race winning history it is officially recognised as a Aston Martin DB4 'Lightweight' and is included in the Lightweight register. In 2018, our vendor decided to return the Aston to a usable, legal fast road specification so that it could be enjoyed for road trips and touring. Renowned historic race car preparers, John Danby Racing, were entrusted to complete the works and the history file contains invoices totalling over seventy thousand pounds. Every aspect of returning an 'out and out' racer to a civilised David Brown Grand Tourer was considered including a complete rebuild of the 4.5-litre engine, the fitment of a new five-speed gearbox, a full retrim, and all the knobs, switches and handles etc. that come out in minutes when you are stripping a car during race prep but take an age to reinstate when returning it to a usable 'fast-road' spec. Every step of the process was recorded including, rebuilds, road tests, rolling road set-ups and all the components used to a level you only get with a professional race car establishment. More recently, in December 2021 power-assisted steering was fitted, a welcome addition. The result is a stunning road going, flexible and refined DB4 that can used as a classic tourer with a compliant exhaust system, fully adjustable suspension, uprated brakes and a comfortably trimmed interior. It's accompanied by a copy of the original factory build sheet and lots of history and photographs from its racing career and is now ideal for regularity runs, European Tours and any number of AMOC events including sprints, hill climbs or circuit days.SpecificationMake: ASTON MARTINModel: DB4Year: 1960Chassis Number: DB4/362/RRegistration Number: GJJ 940CTransmission: Manual Engine Number: 400\3880\SMake: Interior Colour: BlackClick here for more details and images

Lot 464

Beautifully presented early GC8 Impreza Turbo with just 8,900 miles from new.The fabulous Subaru on offer today is one of four Impreza WRX models purchased brand new in Hong Kong in 1995. All four vehicles remained unregistered and unused and kept in secure storage with the supplying Subaru Dealership. In 2003, all four vehicles were shipped to the United Kingdom in two 40 ft containers via Henderson Line Ltd through general agents in Hong Kong - Exel Hong Kong Ltd.  The date of shipping was 4th August 2003 and importation into the UK was handled by CARS UK Ltd on 3rd September 2003. All Customs clearance, processing charges, import duties and VAT payable were settled through CARS UK Ltd. The vehicles were then placed into storage in a Bonded Warehouse storage facility. On 13th November 2003, the vehicles were shipped by covered transporter from CARS UK to a secure storage facility in Cannock, Staffordshire. The recorded mileage on the speedometer of GC8-033988 as at 18th November 2003 read 00189 and the trip meter indicated the exact same reading of 00189.On 18th August 2004 the vehicle was delivered to North Birmingham Motor Co Ltd for recommissioning and preparatory work in order to present the vehicle for SVA Inspection prior to applying to DVLA for the vehicle to be UK registered. The speedometer reading at this point read 00230. A converter was fitted to change readings from KMH to MPH and 230 km became 230 miles. The vehicle joined several other important classic cars in the owner's private Collection and alongside his other vehicles has been held in secure, heated, de-humidified storage. All the vehicles have been maintained by a small team of professionals, consisting of a fully qualified Mechanical Engineer (Ex-Aston Martin trained - 40 years' experience) and his junior assistant, a Valet (Ex-Aston Martin Distributor) and a General Manager. As with the majority of car collections, all of the vehicles have been kept in storage over the winter months (Oct to May) and only driven during fine weather conditions. All have been stored in Carcoons and/or Air Chambers under high-quality fitted dust sheets and 'kept on the key' by way of being regularly started and run-up to full operating temperatures and lightly exercised periodically during long periods of inactivity. Fuel, fluids and filters have been regularly refreshed and vehicles presented for an MOT test every year, wherever practical. At the time of photography, 033988 had covered a total of 8,963 miles as detailed in an extensive report that covers MOTs, mileages between, every service, all maintenance and any upgrades/rectifications in amazing detail. The report runs to four A4 pages and is far too long to display here but it is available to interested parties through our consignor and a copy will be with the car's history file at our Documents Desk at Race Retro. This little Subaru is not a 'trailer-queen' but has been regularly used and enjoyed over the past year. However, the level of maintenance and care can only be described as 'exceptional'. All the original parts (wheels, suspension, exhaust etc.) are available to collect from our vendor should the new owner require them.SpecificationMake: SUBARUModel: IMPREZZAYear: 1994Chassis Number: GC8033988Registration Number: L682 DBBTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 370968Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 8962 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Black / GreyClick here for more details and images

Lot 508

Perhaps the finest example of Ford's most desired Cosworth ever. The original Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was the first Ford to wear the Cosworth badge and was presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1985. It was introduced as a means of homologating the Sierra for 'Group A' Touring Car racing, with a requirement that 5,000 cars were built and sold. Launched for sale in July 1986, and based on the three-door Sierra body-shell, it was designed by Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) and was powered by a Cosworth-designed 2.0-litre turbo engine of now-legendary repute. At this time, the Sierra Cosworth was a new kind of performance car - a 'blue-collar hero' able to humble true sports cars!In total 5,545 cars were produced - of which 500 were sent to Aston Martin Tickford for conversion to the Sierra 'RS500 Cosworth'. If the RS Cosworth was a homologation car, the RS500 was an evolution special. Once Ford had built the requisite 5,000 RS Cosworths, 'Group A' rules allowed an upgraded 'evolution' model to be launched. This could carry changes focused on improving its racing potential, provided Ford sold 10% of the original number as road cars, hence the 500. The RS500 was announced in July 1987 and had a mechanically uprated Cosworth engine (more similar to the one to be used in competition), with power boosted to 224bhp, modified bodywork and the cachet of being hand-assembled - the RS500 really is the ultimate 1980s Fast Ford!Around 14 years ago, our vendor, a knowledgeable and particularly fastidious enthusiast, decided that he would like to add an RS500 to his Collection. He knew what he wanted but took the precaution of enlisting the help of a friend who was a marque expert. They considered a number of cars, including some lovely examples, but were focused on finding the best RS500 they possibly could. A number of other contenders were rejected until, one day, E378 TKN appeared and was unquestionably 'the one'. Its originality was unmatched, the mileage was nominal (even today it has only covered 5,192 miles) and it had patently been cared for.Although very lightly used during our vendor's tenure, it was regularly serviced and maintained during this period by Tremona Garage of Southampton, a local specialist widely recognised as being hugely knowledgeable when it comes to Fords from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. They are also known for preparing cars to a Concours standard with much success in the Autoglym Masterclass and others. Who better to entrust with an RS 500 that may well turn out to be the best and most original RS500 to come to market. The attention to the detail of this car's maintenance cannot be understated. Our client has impressively managed to source a supply of rare new/old stock oil filters, fuel filters etc. so, not for this car a modern oil filter of the correct type, but an original orange one that would have been supplied when new. This 'forensic' attention to originality can be illustrated by our vendor's purchase of a set of period RS 500 wheels and tyres in order that TKN's date-stamped originals can be carefully stored and not have to bear the weight of the car for prolonged periods. This diligent approach is typical of our vendor and will explain why this gleaming black RS500 may well be the best you have ever seen.In 2022, Tremona carried out a full re-commissioning service on E378 TKN including the replacement of engine oil and filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, cambelt and a new battery. All parts used are genuine new/old stock parts and are identical to parts fitted at the factory. The engine oil filter is a Fram PH2854, spark plugs are Motorcraft AGPR 901C and a black Weber fuel filter was fitted.  All these parts have not been available for many years and have been sourced to maintain the car's originality. As mentioned, the original Dunlop D40s are on the stored wheels, the original Ford exhaust system is still in place, the factory fog lamps remain in the boot awaiting fitting by the dealers and there is a file full of history detailing the car's life.  Recently refreshed and with a fresh MOT, E378 TKN will be presented at Race Retro on its original wheels. Silverstone Auctions are proud to have been involved in the sale of many cars at World Record prices, many of them Fords. With 'Fast Fords' seemingly knowing no bounds in their desirability, and this one believed to be the very best example of the ultimate 1980s Fast Ford, we invite and encourage any serious collector to inspect this superb, 5,000-mile Cosworth as its type is unlikely to be found again. SpecificationMake: FORDModel: SIERRA COSWORTHYear: 1987Chassis Number: WF0EXXGBBEGG38730Registration Number: E378 TKNTransmission: ManualEngine Number: GG38730Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 5192 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: ClothClick here for more details and images
