Fannie Moody (1861-1948), dachshund and black kitten seated on a settee, signed lower right, oil on board 47 x 59 cm. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This oil is under glass, evidently some moisture has been trapped with the resulting discolouration to areas of the painting. In particular the coat of the dachshund. The back is sealed with board so the only assessment is made through the glass. Structurally sound, no visible cracks or splits.

There are prominent areas of fading and staining. There are cracks to the wood, visible from the reverse. The stick backs are slightly loose to touch. There are small losses to the wood. Age-related surface marks. The upholstery needs attention.
A MOTHER OF PEARL INLAID & MARBLE INSET THREE SEATER SETTEE The backrest and arms with marble inset panels and foliate mother of pearl inlay of birds, foliage, rockery and double happiness symbols, the reverse of the back rest also similarly inlaid 115cm high x 190cm wide x 62cm deep Condition: Condition Report There is a discoloured/yellowed varnish to the piece which is most visible to the seat, arm rests and back and on the mother of pearl inlay where it has flaked and revealing the whiter/brighter mother of pearl beneath. The arms appear strong but back rest has some movement particularly to the left corner. The three seat panels with splits and vertical losses which would require filling. General wear and tear.
