A Laura Ashley Chesterfield settee, with two loose cushions, with deep buttoned back and raised on turned front legs terminating in brass castors. width 214 cm, height to top of back 89 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This settee was purchased recently and never used by the owner. It is therefore in extremely good order with no issues.
A Victorian mahogany Chesterfield settee, deep buttoned, with stuffover seat and raised on turned front legs terminating in castors. Width +/- 206 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The settee is structurally sound. There do not appear to be any loose joints. All four castors are present and secure and appear to be original. The left hand rear leg has a smattering of old woodworm which we believe to be long gone. The fabric is generally very worn. The seating area is beginning to perish and there are many loose strands of material. The deep buttoned back is also a little soft. In our opinion the piece really needs re-upholstering. For those who like the shabby chic appearance it would however be serviceable.
A Continental style walnut framed three piece parlour suite, upholstered in figural and foliate patterned material and raised on cabriole legs. Settee width across arms 118 cm. CONDITION REPORT: All three pieces are structurally very sound with no loose joints. There are no issues with any of the chair frames. The upholstery is in generally very good condition and does not need redoing. The springs are all nice and tight with no sagging to the seats. The braiding to one of the chair backs is a little loose at the right hand facing side but this should easily rectify.
A George III style settee, with arched back and rollover arms, with loose cushion upholstered in blue velvet type material with slightly convex front and with foliate carved showframe, raised on five cabriole legs, width 202 cm, height to top of back 88 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The settee is structurally extremely sound. There are no loose joints and it is particularly sturdy. We can see no evidence of any repairs to the exposed showframe. There are a few minor scuffs around the extremities as one would expect but again these are almost insignificant. The settee looks to have been fairly recently upholstered. We can see no evidence of any significant wear or staining to the fabric. The colour is universal and there is no fading. The springing is again good and solid. The only minor imperfection to the upholstery is at the left hand side of the settee where piping runs around the edges. At the back of the left hand side the material has sprung away from the piping for approximately 3 cm and there appears to be a small loss in the fabric here but it really is very minor.
