A Chippendale style settee, early 20th century, upholstered in blue and gold star patterned material and raised on shell and foliate carved cabriole legs terminating in paw feet. Width 168 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This settee is in extremely good condition. It is structurally extremely sound with no loose joints or any movement in either the back, arms or legs. The carving to the legs is of good quality and there is no evidence of any breaks or losses. There are a few minor scuffs and marks caused by vacuum cleaners but no significant issues. Please note that the rear legs are also fully carved. The upholstery is generally extremely good. There is minimal wear and no significant marks or stains. The quality of the upholstery is good. There are no problems with the internal springs. The detachable squab cushion is down filled.
A late Victorian Chesterfield settee, upholstered in Royal blue velvet type material and raised on turned legs terminating in castors. Width 204 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height from floor to top of seat +/- 47 cm. Height from floor to top of arm 73.5 cm. Depth of seat 56.5 cm. Maximum depth 82 cm. The settee is structurally very sound. There are no repairs to the legs and no movement at the joints. The left hand rear castor and cradle support is detached from the pin that is screwed into the base of the foot. The settee was fully reupholstered approximately 15 years ago. It was traditionally reupholstered and none of the internal springs are poking through the base. The condition of the fabric is generally very good. There is no significant wear to the back or fronts of the arms. The velvet is in extremely good condition with no significant wear and no significant staining.
A Victorian drop arm Chesterfield style settee, with paisley print fabric and raised on short legs with ceramic castors. Width 154 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We do not know when this was last upholstered. All legs are in good condition with no repairs. They do have the usual scuffs and scratches as one would probably expect. The castors all match but all are a little loose. When viewed from the underside there do not appear to be any protruding or significantly loose springs. The outer cover fabric is a form of linen. There is no significant movement of the back or either arm. Obviously the drop arms section does allow for slight movement. The settee in our opinion is reasonably comfortable to sit on. There is very little wear to the fabric only very slight rubbing to the piping around the tops of the arms. The metal knob that operates the drop arm section is detached. It requires a replacement screw in the section which is broken we cannot therefore operate the drop arm which is currently set in the upright position.
