A handsome carved mahogany framed Bergere three piece lounge suite, circa 1920s Comprising a three seater settee and two armchairs, the single cane panels intact, and with foliate stamped draylon covered loose cushions, each decorated with front blind fret and carved panels, sofa approx. 165cm wide by 76cm deep.
A Victorian walnut settee, with cameo back, rollover ends, pierced showframe, serpentine front rail and raised on cabriole legs (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Length 71 ins. The wooden frame is in generally very good condition. There is no damage to any of the legs or the back. There are only minor scuffs to the woodwork as one would expect from an item of this age. The upholstery is in generally good order with the odd mark to the arms but no significant issues.
A George III style mahogany framed settee, large form, upholstered in foliate patterned cream and yellow material and raised on eight foliate and shell carved cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet. Length 214 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally in good order. The upholstery is clearly fairly recent and generally very clean with only very minor insignificant marks. The right hand facing arm is a little loose at the joints. There is however no structural damage and it is perfectly serviceable. The left hand arm is similarly slightly loose at the joints. All eight legs are structurally sound and solid with no movement. The front left leg has a small loss to the top of the foliate scroll but again this is minor. There are also various scuffs at ground level by the claw and ball feet however these are barely significant. The angled back has a small amount of movement at the joints to the arms and the base. This is more pronounced on the left hand side.
A late 19th/early 20th century Queen Anne style settee, of small proportions, with double arched back, upholstered in beige velvet type material and the whole raised on a series of turned legs united by stretchers (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This settee is structurally very sound. All of the woodwork is in good, original condition and there is no damage, no repairs and no visible woodworm. The upholstery is generally in good order with no tears or significant staining. The seat is a little soft in places and some of the definition has gone along the front facing edge. This is however a minor criticism. Width 43.5 ins, height to top of back 42 ins, depth of seat 18 ins, height to bottom of seat 13.5 ins, maximum depth approximately 26 ins.
A Victorian walnut framed chaise longue, deep buttoned and with blue stuffover seat and raised on cabriole legs terminating in castors. Width 65 ins (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The settee really requires recovering. There is a small hole in the fabric on the seat and a tear to the back. The base is fabric covered but it looks as if some of the webbing has perished and the bottoms of the springs are visible though the material. The front left cabriole leg is slightly loose at the joints. The right hand leg is solid. The showframe is generally in good order along the front and sides with nothing more than old scuff marks. The rear right hand leg has a small loss to the upper section which is visible beneath the upholstery. The leg is structurally solid however. The left hand rear cabriole leg is again loose at its joints. The angled back does have movement particularly at the left hand side. Ideally the piece needs stripping down, stiffening up and recovering.
A three piece lounge suite, with loose cushions and arm covers, raised on square tapered legs terminating in castors. CONDITION REPORT: This is a large suite. The width of the chair is 38.5 ins, depth 36 ins. Height to top of back 34 ins. Settee width 85.5 ins, depth 40 ins. The suite has come to us from a very good local property. It is in extremely good condition and has clearly had very little use. The fabric is generally in extremely good condition. The only areas of slight wear are to the loose arm covers. This is however minimal and only to one side. We have been told that the suite cost in the excess of £4000 when originally purchased.
