CECIL ALDIN (1860-1935) - 'Cracker the Silly Ass', pencil drawing heightened with white, signed with monogram, framed, 24cm x 29cm.Provenance: Burlington Gallery, London*The charismatic bull terrier Cracker and his friend Micky, an enormous Irish wolfhound, provided a constant source of inspiration for Aldin. Their competition to be 'top dog' and thus earn the favoured position on the artist's settee captured the public imagination to such a degree that The Times published the dog's obituary on his passing.
An original early 20th century art deco antique sofa suite comprising of a two seat sofa settee with two armchairs. The suite having a clam like rounded backs flanked by Odeon style stepped design with upward sweeping arms and upholstered in a rich two tone contrasting material. Measures 86 cm high x 137cm wide x 91 cm deep.

A Chinese Chippendale inspired two seater settee, with carved walnut showframe with chinoiserie decoration of pagodas, prunus and fanciful bird arm rests, with feather filled upholstered cushion, back and sides, sprung base and all raised on square legs with carved bellflower pendant decoration. Width 131 cm, height 86 cm (see illustration).
A late 19th century French upholstered settee, with carved walnut showframe heightened with gilding, the serpentine top rail surmounted with a shell and foliate carved decoration with painted gilt trellis, upholstered in gold ground material with blue scrolls and horsehair filled and sprung, the arm rests with carved leaf and shell decoration supported on shaped cabriole legs with relief carved shell and foliate apron. Width 168 cm, height 109 cm, +/- 62 cm deep.
A Victorian Chesterfield settee with armchair to match, both deep buttoned in pink velvet type material and raised on short turned front legs terminating in castors. Settee width 169 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The chair height to top of the back is 80 cm. The maximum depth is +/- 86 cm. The maximum width is 76.5 cm. The settee has a maximum width of 174 cm, maximum depth +/- 80 cm, height 73 cm. Both the settee and chair are structurally very sound with no loose leg joints. There do not appear to be any repairs to the legs and the castors are original. The upholstery is generally good and firm with no significant staining, holes or significant faults. The springing is nice and taut and there are no protruding springs to the underside. All of the deep buttons are present and firm.
A late Victorian Florentine inlaid boudoir settee, the showframe with part slatted backs and side with scrolling arm rests and upholstered seat, all upon splayed legs with boxwood stringing, 141 cm wide, 93 cm high, +/- 52 cm deep (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both rear legs are loose at the joint to the back rail. The front legs are secure. The back showframe is all in good order and there are no missing slats. All side slats are present also. The front showframe is in very good condition on the right hand side. On the left curve there is an old stress fracture just to the left above the leg. The upholstery whilst serviceable is a little tired and showing some rubbing on the tops of the arms. There is some discolouration and the odd minor stain.
An Edwardian mahogany framed settee, with foliate carved and scroll moulded exposed showframe, upholstered in burgundy velvet type material and raised on cabriole front legs terminating in castors. Width across arms 140 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The settee is in structurally very good order with no loose joints. There are some minor scuffs and scratches to the showframe but no evidence of any damage of any significance, no repairs and no restoration. The seat is well upholstered and the material in good condition. The springs are tight and there are no protrusions. The arms are well upholstered. The back panel is also in good condition on both sides.
A George III mahogany settee, upholstered in deep buttoned corded material and raised on moulded front legs united by stretchers and with original brass roller castors. Width 148 cm, height to top of back 90 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The settee is structurally very sound with no loose joints. The upholstery is in generally good order with no significant marks or staining. There are no holes. The seat is firm. There is nothing protruding beneath the seat. The legs and stretchers are all original and are in good order with no evidence of any repairs or breaks. The roller castors appear to be original.
An early 19th century settee, with arched back, upholstered in silk type material with squab cushion and raised on mahogany legs united by stretchers. Width 152 cm, height to top of back 91 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The settee requires full re-upholstering, it is however structurally very sound with no significantly loose joints. All legs and stretchers are structurally sound and there do not appear to have been any repairs. All legs have minor scuffs and marks as one would expect. The settee will originally have been raised on castors.
