A portrait miniature on ivory of a young lady of note, wearing a blue dress with lace trimmings and yellow ribbon, a book in her hand, seated upon a red striped settee before a classical column, mounted in a gilt slip with reeded circular ebonised frame, image diameter 8.5 cm, indistinctly signed verso and with a red wax seal: and a portrait miniature on ivory of a lady, 19th century, her hair in long flowing curls wearing a triple row of pearls and ermine over her shoulders, mounted in an ebonised frame 7.5 cm x 6 cm.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany drawing room suite, comprising settee, two armchairs and six single chairs, recently reupholstered in a beige trellis patterned material and each piece raised on turned fluted legs. Settee width 124 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The suite is in generally very good condition. It has clearly been fairly recently professionally upholstered. The 6 single chairs are all structurally sound with no visible damage or repairs. There are no significantly loose joints. Both tub chairs and settee have slight movement at some of the joints but this is not in our opinion problematic. We can see no evidence of any repairs to either chair. The settee has stress fractures to the bottom left and bottom right hand corners of the frame just below the upholstered back. These are old fractures and there is no significant movement. All castors appear to be original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm or missing inlay.
A Chinoiserie lacquered Bergere three piece lounge suite, circa 1930. Settee length 153 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cane work to one armchair is in extremely good order with no visible issues. The second chair has no problems with the cane work panels to the arms. The back panel does however have one small area of loss of approximately 1 cm square in the centre right of the panel representing breaks in probably 4 or 5 cane strands. The cane work to the settee is sound with no breaks. There are very small areas of loss to the cosmetic cane line that runs around the edge of the cane panels on the left hand arm. This is not problematic. The three pieces are structurally very sound. Being hypercritical there is some very small movement on the right hand arm of one chair. The movement is approx 1 mm. Both settee arms have slightly more movement of between 2 and 3 mm when moved from side to side from the front. In our opinion this is not problematic. There is no movement at all on any of the legs and all castors are present and original. The paintwork and pattern is as you see it in our images. There are numerous old minor scuffs and scratches. The worst affected area is the left hand return of one chair which has more substantial scuffing and scratching than the other pieces. The stuffover seats are well upholstered and in good condition. The springing appears good and there are no protruding springs from the base. The cushions are generally in extremely good condition also. The two large seat cushions have what looks like felt pen marks but to only one side so this is not problematic.
A Georgian mahogany settee, upholstered in pink, foliate, scroll and patterned material, with exposed moulded mahogany arms, raised on turned legs, width 180 cm height to top of back 98 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The settee is structurally sound with no loose joints. The upholstery whilst a light pink colour is actually in extremely good condition with no significant rubbing or staining. The only minor issue is that when viewed from the rear there are two small marks to the fabric probably caused by rubbing during transport. They are both approximately 3 cm in length and between .5 and 1 cm in height. We are not sure if these will easily remove or not. The rear legs are in good condition with no repairs or breaks. The exposed showframe and all of the front legs are in similarly good condition. There are some minor scuffs and marks to the bottoms of the feet as one would expect. Each leg has an inlaid roundel to three sides. The right hand leg has the right hand roundel partially missing and there are some further small losses to the inlay on the other roundels to all feet.
A Regency style mahogany settee, with exposed moulded scrolling showframe, bolster and squab cushions. Width 200 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The settee is structurally extremely solid. There are no loose joints. There are no losses to the exposed showframe. If the colour suits the upholstery is also in very good order with no visible marks or staining. The cushions and bolsters are in good order. The rear sides of the piece are in good condition also.
An Edwardian mahogany framed Bergere lounge suite, double caned. Settee width 190 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The height of the chairs from the top of the back rail to the floor is 87 cm. The seat height excluding the current later cushion is 27 cm from the bottom of the front foot to the top of the integral upholstered pad. The width between the arms is 67.5 cm, the depth of each chair from the centre of the bowed back to the front edge of the upholstered integral pad is 85.5 cm. The height of the settee from the top of the back rail to the floor excluding the later Shepherds castors is 70 cm. The height of the seat from the bottom of the foot to the top of the integrated upholstered section is 29.5 cm. Note - This excludes the later shepherds castors. Also note that each leg has clearly originally had castors which will have screwed onto the underside of each foot so the height in the case of both the settee and the chairs was probably a further 5 or 6 cm or so depending on the type of castors fitted. The settee width between the armchairs is 173 cm, depth 92.5 cm. Note - The seat heights on both the settee and chairs exclude the loose cushions.
