Attributed to ANGELO GAETANO SCIOLARI (Italy, 1927-1994).Ceiling lamp, 1970s.Glass and metal. The piece will be available approximately 15 days after payment has been made.Measurements: 64 x 49 x 49 cm.He was one of the Italian designers renowned for his mid-century modern lamps. Born in the early 20th century, Sciolari, the son of a family of Italian illuminators who had been producing lamps since 1892, began designing for the Italian manufacturer Stilnovo in the 1950s. It was there that he created his most recognisable and celebrated work, a series of multi-light chandeliers made of shiny, matt metal, evoking futuristic visions of the dawning space age, such as our five-light ceiling lamp. Luxurious chandelier creations began to gain prominence and popularity in the United States during the 1970s, a decade in which his style began to look towards an aesthetic inspired by Art Deco and Space Age.Founder and president of the association of Italian lighting manufacturers, Sciolari is today one of the most sought-after names for his collector's pieces, such as the Habitat, Cultura and Futura series.

MONTEGRAPPA "CIGAR" FOUNTAIN PENS, LIMITED EDITION.Resin and sterling silver barrels.Bicolour 18 Kts gold nibs, M and EF nibs.Limited edition. No box.Measurements: 14 cm. length; 15 mm. diameter.Manufactured in the special "Tobacco" celluloid, one of the 24 shades that Montegrappa boasts in its archives, the Cigar pen resembles the subject with astonishing realism. The colour was chosen for its particular combination of light brown with lighter pearly streaks that resemble organic tobacco leaves. Its shape is deceptively simple, like a cigar, adorned on the outside by the "cigar band" in precious metal, which declares the brand and its year of foundation. In terms of size, it is a perfect replica of a real cigar, specifically a classic model called "Laguito n.2", with a calibre of 152 mm in length and 15.08 mm in diameter (approximately).Like a real cigar, the pen has a rounded tip for "piercing" and lighting. A detail that adds to the cigar smoking experience is the fully functional perforator that comes out of the cap of the pen when it is pulled down.Montegrappa's Cigar Pen is offered with sterling silver trim and is available as a fountain pen or rollerball pen. The nib of the fountain pen is made of 18-karat gold, adorned with the Montegrappa filigree pattern. Production is limited to the traditional Montegrappa numbers: 888 fountain and 888 rollerball in silver.

2010 Jaguar XKR '75' Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:55931The XK8 was launched in 1996 to replace the XJ-S. Two body styles were produced, a coupé and a convertible and the car was the first in the Jaguar line-up to use Jaguar's newly developed V8 engine. In 2000, the supercharged XKR was added to the range. This produced a staggering 503 horsepower, a subtle rear spoiler, wire mesh front grille and red exterior emblems were identifying features. The XKR's engine was made in England, the ignition system was from NGK in Japan, the transmission was a Mercedes-Benz 722.6, the lighting system was by Valeo in France and the supercharger was made by Eaton in the USA, it was truly a world car. The redesigned XK was styled by Jaguar's chief designer Ian Callum. The standard XK model has a limited top speed of 158mph whilst the XKR had a limited top speed of 174mph. Mike Cross built this limited production road car, which actually made its debut at the 2010 festival. He gave it stronger suspension uprights for tighter camber control, stiffer springs (28% front, 32% rear), recalibrated adaptive dampers and slightly wider wheels (up half an inch at the front, 1 inch at the rear), the back rims wearing 10mm wider rubber too. The front and rear spoilers are the same as those available on other XKRs equipped with the optional cosmetic Speed Pack, but the deeper side sills are unique to the 75. Every car came in Stratus Grey, but the silver wheelarch eyebrows are optional. A new exhaust unleashes a mightier roar, hinting at the extra engine power under the bonnet. When Jaguar introduced the new 5.0-litre engines, the supercharged version actually had to be slightly detuned to preserve the transmission. But the XKR 75 got an improved torque converter, which meant the engine was allowed to deliver the full 523bhp, up from 503bhp in lesser Jags. Understood to be one of only 20 right hand drive examples of the 75 edition built, this fabulous example which was a mighty £85,500 when new is presented in Stratus Grey (as they all were) with black leather interior. These cars had a limited top speed of 174 mph and 0-60mph was achieved in a staggering 4.4 seconds! Its bodywork has a front splitter, extended sills, a rear defuser and a larger rear spoiler. It is fitted with red calipers and 20 inch Vortex forged alloys. With its superb Supercharged V8 producing 523bhp, this exhilarating Jaguar sounds fabulous and is great to drive at a fraction of the cost when new.

1997 Land Rover Defender TDi (110") Transmission: manualMileage:69014There is little doubt that one of the most famous shapes on British roads over the last 50 years is the Land Rover. This go-anywhere vehicle has been used on airfields, as ambulances, crossing jungles deserts and ice caps. The rear body not only presents in standard factory guise but with a huge range of adaptations such as pickup trucks, tow trucks, general haulage and immediate triage on the front line. In recent years, they have also become extremely fashionable with luxury versions appearing on the market and even adopted by the film industry as James Bond, Lara Croft and even Pixar will testify. Presented here is one man's vision on the classic Land Rover panel van. Acquired back in 2018, it was then taken to specialists, West London Auto Centre in London, and stripped back to bare metal, de-riveted and painted in classic Ferrari Rosso Corsa. Whilst apart, new brakes were fitted along with new suspension and original, albeit now powder-coated, steel wheels with Yokohama Geolandar A/T tyres at each corner and a spare on the rear door. There is also a 9,500lbs Bearmach winch to the front bumper with a tow-hook to the rear, extended rubber wheel arches and led lighting all round to finish the external effect. But this is only half the story, the interior is equally striking. Not only is there privacy glass all round but the rear cab has been fitted out with bespoke red and black, diamond-cut, faux-leather seating with diamond-cut headlining and front sports seats with contrasting diamond stitching. This an entirely bespoke Land Rover with one recorded owner from new and a comprehensive invoice and MoT test history file. Go one, stand out from the crowd!  Interested parties should note that this vehicle failed its MoT test due to a missing circlip on a ball joint cover. A new circlip will be supplied with the car and fitting/MoT will be paid for by the vendor.Alternatively, the car will be collected by the vendor, made good/MoT’d and delivered to any point within 100 miles of London.

Italian school of the 18th century. Circle of BALDASSARRE DI CARO (Naples, 1689-1750)."Still life", 18th century.Oil on canvas.Original frame of the prestigious category called Salvator Rosa.19th century restoration in which the work was re-coloured and the frame changed. The piece will be available after a period of up to 60 days.Size: 34 x 23 cm; 42 x 33 cm (frame). The work presented here takes us to witness a still life in the style of the sixteenth century, even reminiscent of Spanish still lifes. In it, a group of inanimate beings in the foreground captures all the attention of the canvas, standing out against a vague background. Despite being from the 18th century, the scenography and the choice of lighting accentuate the moralistic message about the expiration of life or "vanitas" typical of the Catholic church of the 16th century.Although little is known about Baldassarre's life, it is known that he was very well received by the Neapolitan aristocracy and the Bourbon court, who appreciated his mimetic skill in the elaboration of the animals and the suggestive dimension of the chiaroscuro. Some of Caro's works are to be found in the Neapolitan museums of Capodimonte and San Martino, the Museo Correale di Sorrento, the Cavestany collection in Madrid and various private collections.

Lot 38

Spanish school, 18th century. After CORREGGIO (1489 -1534)."Mystical nuptials of Saint Catherine". Oil on canvas.Relined.20th century frame following 19th century models.Size: 109 x 100 cm; 132 x 123 cm (frame). The Louvre Museum houses the original work by Correggio on which the present painting is based. This is a faithful version of the Renaissance model, except for the use of somewhat more contrasting and dramatised lighting, typical of a language that has been impregnated with the plastic incursions of the Baroque. The present scene depicts the vision of Saint Catherine being betrothed by the Christ Child, who in the painting is about to place a gold ring on her ring finger. The Virgin takes the divine body in her arms, which glows with inner light, as do the faces of the figures present, with Saint Sebastian being the fourth figure to bear witness to the sacred event. Jesus gazes tenderly at Catherine, who is depicted as a beautiful young woman wrapped in golden cloths. In the background of the composition, the episode in which Sebastian is being martyred is narrated: he is tied to a tree and sawn asunder by a group of Roman soldiers. The faces in the foreground are characterised by the tremendous sweetness that emanates from barely sketched smiles, their features modulated by soft shifts of light. The atmospheric effect and the satiny sensuality of the robes are derived from the Venetian school. The same theme would be treated by other great painters, such as the Flemish genius Anton Van Dyck, and the Spanish artist Diego Ribera, master of Tenebrist naturalism.Saint Catherine de Ricci was an Italian Dominican nun, who is attributed with miraculous visions and bodily encounters with Jesus, both the infant Jesus and the adult Jesus. She is said to have spontaneously bled with the wounds of the crucified Christ. She is venerated for her mystical visions and is honoured as a saint by the Catholic Church. She was born Alessandra Lucrezia Romola de' Ricci in Florence to Pier Francesco de' Ricci, from a patrician family, and his wife, Caterina Bonza, who died shortly afterwards. At the age of 6 or 7, her father enrolled her in a Benedictine nuns' school in the Monticelli quarter, near her home, where her aunt, Luisa de' Ricci, was abbess. She was a very devout person from a very young age. There she developed a lifelong devotion to the Passion of Christ. After a short time away from the monastery she entered the Convent of St. Vincent in Prato, Tuscany, a cloistered community of nuns of the Third Order of St. Dominic. By the age of 30 she had risen to the position of prioress, and as prioress, De 'Ricci became an effective and much admired administrator.
