*A 1952 49cc Cairns 'MOCYC' Auxiliary Engine and Sunbeam Bicycle. Driving on the front wheel, this particularly rare engine, even by low-production cycle-motor standards, was designed in 1949 by GYS of Bournemouth and manufactured by Cairns of Todmorden, Lancashire, who also made Cairns bicycles, consisting of an unusual one-piece alloy engine unit and casting numbered 5826, it possesses Wipac ignition and comes with hand controls, a file of information and fastenings, the Lady's Sunbeam is a rare very early example of the 'LT' model, with no model identifying code in the number, the first 'austerity' bicycle from John Marston Ltd. Most of the non-oil-bath models lose their identity when over-painted and, unlike 'racing' cycles, no one searches out a Lady's bicycle. Very original, even down to the steel, spear point 'mudguards, speedo and drive with Lucas lighting and other fittings, the photograph shows the engine placed in position, but not connected with its fastenings or the hand-controls in place. Godwin for Collinson & Lock, a coromandel wood occasional table, the square top with parquetry banding above second tier below, raised on four ring-turned legs 72 x 51 x 51cm (28 x 20 x 20in) Literature: For a similar example, see 'The Secular Furniture of E. W. Godwin' by Susan Weber Soros, publ Yale University Press, 1999, plate 212 E W Godwin (1833-1886) British architect and designer was described by Max Beerbohm as "the greatest aesthete of them all". His work embodied the aesthetic movement of 1865 to1885. He trained as an architect and his work included the original designs for Bedford Park and James Whistler's house in Tite Street Chelsea. But the scope of his talent was not limited to buildings, he designed wallpaper, textiles, stained glass, lighting and costume and stage designs - particularly during the years he lived with the actress Ellen Terry. His furniture designs were Anglo Japanese in style, often using ebonised wood. They achieved the perfect balance between the Aesthetic concept of "art for art's sake" and Godwin's insistence that excess in design (and indeed life) ought to be avoided. He was engaged by many of the leading manufacturers including William Watt, Collinson and Lock and Gillow and Co and remains one of the most important designers of his era, with work held in public collections throughout Britain.

Reputedly capable of an impressive 60mph, the Willys Overland Model 40 was powered by a 4188cc four-cylinder engine allied to planetary transmission. Based around a sturdy ladder frame chassis equipped with all-round leaf-sprung suspension and rear-wheel brakes, the model wore 2+1-seater roadster coachwork that befitted its sporting capabilities. Well engineered, dependable and versatile, the Model 90 boasted such niceties as a folding windscreen and acetylene lighting set. Designed to be at home on made or unmade roads, the Overland proved a strong seller. Finished in Light Grey with Black upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in 'good' condition with regard to its engine, transmission, bodywork, paintwork and interior trim. Decidedly rakish, this Edwardian Roadster appears to have been the subject of past restoration work.
