Acrylic on canvas - Framed 640mm x 890 ** IMPORTANT CONDITION OF SALE FOR THIS LOT: This piece forms part of the artist's GCSE / A Level portfolio and must be retained by the school until October 2025. We can assist the buyer with the creation of a replica print for display in the interim. ARTIST STATEMENT: Studying queens and kings at the time, I focused on my mother. The strive for fame throughout her life, crowned in a card board crown here depicting the way she has built her self, a bittersweet twist on royalty and self made power. She holds her guitar, not playing but clutching, I took detail to her hands, as she is now suffering arthritis creating a constant battle between pain and her art. The lighting is golden hour, an omen of a painting hangs dishelvelled on the wall, the ambiguity as to whether it is sunrise or sunset remains on the viewers interpretation. Despite all this, her glance provokes a kind of strength.
Registration No: LJ15 SZC Chassis No: 1FA6P8CF4F5307788 MOT: July 20251 of just 1,964 limited edition 50th Anniversary Performance Pack examples producedUnique Mustang having been further redeveloped by Fortis Auto DesignFeaturing wide-body, scissor doors and performance upgrades to 450bhpJust c.27,000 miles from newThe Ford Mustang is undoubtedly an American icon. The first production Mustang rolled off the assembly line in Dearborn, Michigan in March 1964 and was introduced to the public at the New York World's Fair on 17th April 1964. It was, and remains, one of the most successful product launches in automotive history, with the original Mustang selling over one million units in its first eighteen months alone. After five previous generations diluting the original 'Pony car', the sixth-generation arrived in 2013 to widespread consideration that Ford has perhaps returned the Mustang to its glory days. Publicly unveiled on the 5th of December 2013, in Dearborn, Michigan, New York, Los Angeles, California; Barcelona, Spain, Shanghai, China; and Sydney, Australia, with the internal project code name; S-550, with three engine options available: a newly developed 2.3 litre EcoBoost with 310bhp, a 3.7 litre 300bhp V6, or the 5.0 litre Coyote 435bhp V8 with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. A new independent rear suspension system was developed specifically for the new model. It also became the first factory version designed as a right-hand drive export model to be sold overseas through the Ford dealership network in right-hand drive markets. This intimidating 5.0 litre V8 special edition was initially imported by Bill Shepherd Mustang in 2015. Part of a limited edition 50th Anniversary Performance Pack run, just 1,964 examples were released to pay homage to the first generation Mustangs of 1964. It boasted retro stitching throughout, a retro-look instrument cluster surround and exclusive Black leather upholstery embossed with the Mustang 50-year logo. Chrome accents around the rear tail-lights and a special 50-year plaque on the dash noting this limited edition's place in history complete the many upgrades. The model was marketed as a 2014½ model, paying tribute to the original 1964½ model. Further modified from factory, Fortis Auto Design worked closely with renowned specialists to create this one-off bespoke example. Additions include a bespoke wide arch moulded body, lighting, suspension and exhaust upgrades. Arguably most notable is the fitment of scissor doors that give the Mustang additional flair. Offered displaying just c.27,000 miles, the Mustang has a history file including documented service history, showing a recent service at Ford Bury St Edmunds, a collection of MOTs, a current no advisory MOT until July 2025 and a current V5C document. This truly one-off Mustang is undoubtedly not for shrinking violets and harks back to how original Mustang owners would upgrade their 'pony car'. Registration No: WC 1431 Chassis No: GS 138 MOT: ExemptRare Vintage-era French cycle carSubject to an extensive restoration during the 1980sFitted with an upgraded 1,098cc OHV Chapuis-Dornier engine and four-speed gearboxEligible for events such as Vintage Montlhery and VSCC hillclimbsFounded in 1912 by Bertrand Montet, Derby was initially engaged in general engineering and after the Great War dealt in War-surplus Harley-Davidson motorcycles. From 1921, the firm began producing lightweight Voiturettes (Cyclecars) that were fitted with the Harley Davidson V-Twin motorcycle engines with which they had become so familiar. Very quickly the marque started to produce larger models and would fit these chassis with four-cylinder, overhead valve 1,098cc engines sourced from Chapuis-Dornier. Competing with the likes of Amilcar and Salmson, Automobiles Derby exhibited a British bodied 9hp 'Sports' model at the 1923 Olympia Motor Show which was a direct descendant of their 9hp Racer that had competed in the Brooklands 200 mile race. Unfortunately, Derby failed to attract much interest at the show, but it would inspire the imagination of one Vernon Balls. Balls was a Gentleman motor racer who had trained as a motor engineer and made a name for himself by purchasing the remaining stock of Mors spares, and his business would handle all repairs and servicing for the firm right up until 1923. Later in that year, on a business trip to Paris, Balls purchased an Amilcar for sporting use and saw great potential in French cyclecars in British sporting events, and merely a few years later, his firm would become the main sales agent for Derby and market them under the name 'Vernon-Derby' from 1927. The 9hp Grand Sports Special was a slightly more updated version of the 9hp Sports Model, and featured more elegant bodystyling with louvred side-panels upon the chassis, wrap-around cycle wings and a four-speed gearbox in place of the earlier three-speed unit.Dated to 1926, little is known about the early life of chassis ‘GS 138’, but it managed to survive some fifty years before its discovery by the previous owner in France in a dilapidated state during the late 1970s. According to the vendor, the previous owner was a very good friend of his who was responsible for the restoration of several interesting pre-war sports cars; but was particularly fanatical about the Derby marque. The rare sports car is said to have been found to be remarkably complete despite having been disassembled, so the decision was made to perform a full restoration which would continue throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. A chemical engineer by trade, the previous owner had nearly every steel part treated by dipping them in vats of Jenolite Rust Converter, a process that he had sworn by on previous restorations. After treatment, the chassis and body were prepared in Red Oxide and painted in its resplendent red by a professional coach working firm, which has survived in very fine form to this day, testament to the rust treating process that the restorer swore by.Mechanically, the Derby was treated to the same level of attention and a full overhaul was performed on the four-cylinder Chapuis Dornier engine, which was re-bored and fitted with new pistons whilst the crankshaft was re-ground and mounted within freshly white-metalled bearing shells. The cooling system was uprated with the addition of a water pump instead of the original thermo-syphon arrangement, which fed a freshly re-cored radiator. The gearbox, front axle and back axle were completely overhauled with new components made up where necessary and the electrics were also subject to attention, with a new wiring loom fitted to power the reconditioned lighting system and period gauges set into the dashboard. Finally, a complete replacement interior was constructed with a high-quality black leather used to trim the off-set seats which is pleasingly complimentary to the red panel work.Having completed the restoration, the Derby would remain in the previous owner’s possession up until 2019 as part of his private collection and was used sparingly whilst being maintained to a very high standard. The vendor, a long-term fan of pre-war cars and motorcycles himself would acquire it directly from the previous owner to join several interesting stablemates (including another Derby). Described by the present owner as having survived in ‘very good to excellent’ condition all round, old age has unfortunately now forced his hand with his decision to sell.A rarity on the open market, this Derby 9hp Gran Sport is fully registered for use in the UK and presents as an interesting alternative to better known French cyclecar brands for either competition use in the many events that it is eligible for, or perhaps it would make a very eye-catching talking point as part of a private collection. The work reflects Simon's masterful mastery of the etching technique and his feeling for the atmosphere of a modern big city. The scene is full of lighting effects and neon signs that evoke the dynamism and energy of New York in the 1920s. The work reflects the fascination with modern architecture and the lighting effects of the night city, which Simon became famous for with his refined sense of detail and ability to capture the atmosphere of urban scenery. The characteristic light and reflections of the city windows create a melancholic touch that evokes the life of a vibrant city. Simon's stay in America was reflected in several of his works, which remain iconic depictions of the early 20th century. | condition report*In case of missing photos, please feel free to contact us.
VACLAV RADIMSKY (Czech / Bohemian 1867 - 1946) - Landscape with water lilies | technique: oil on cardboard | 69 x 98 cm | signature: bottom left | condtion: damaged frame | framed | Lot description | Vaclav Radimsky, an important Czech painter, known primarily for his work in France, is one of the key representatives of Impressionism in Central Europe. His work "Landscape with Water Lilies" shows strong inspiration from French landscape painting, especially the work of Claude Monet, whose influence is evident both in the motif and in the technique itself. Radimsky, like Monet, captures the atmosphere of natural scenery using subtle color tones and an emphasis on lighting conditions. Analogous to Monet's "Water Lilies", in this painting too, Radimsky excels in capturing the play of light on the water surface and in rendering the fluidity and translucence of the water. This painting, unlike the direct copying of motifs, reflects the painter's unique approach and his ability to combine Eastern European painting tradition with modern impressionist principles. | condition report*In case of missing photos, please feel free to contact us.
OTA BUBENICEK (Czech / Bohemian 1871 - 1962) - Landscape | 1918 | technique: oil on cardboard | 38 x 46 cm | signature: bottom left | framed under glass | Lot description | Ota Bubenicek's painting from 1918 is a striking example of his mastery of landscape painting, where he sensitively works with color palette and composition. This view of the landscape captures not only the beauty of Czech nature, but also the atmosphere of a peaceful countryside. Bubenicek focuses on a detailed representation of the vegetation in the foreground, which contrasts with the finely layered landscape in the background. Trees swaying gracefully in the wind add dynamism and a sense of movement, while distant horizons evoke infinity and space. The lighting conditions, which capture the cloudy sky, add a melancholic tone to the image that is characteristic of early 20th century landscape painting. The inspiration from Impressionism is evident in the lightness and freshness of the painting's handwriting, which captures the variability of the light and atmosphere of the natural environment. This painting not only celebrates nature, but also reflects the transformations of the landscape in connection with the historical events of the time in which it was created. | condition report*In case of missing photos, please feel free to contact us.
The E63 AMG was the refreshed high-performance model that replaced E55 AMG. It is an impressive car that combined huge power and performance along with luxury refinement. The AMG V8 engine has a high-pressure die-cast alloy cylinder block and was one of the quickest production sports saloons in the world at the time of its launch with its impressive 507 bhp and 465 ft lb of torque accelerating the luxury saloon from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds and on to a limited 155 mph. The E63 AMG is now mated to the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. While the E500 and E550 had the standard Mercedes Airmatic DC suspension with adaptive damping, the E63 AMG has the AMG-tuned Airmatic suspension which with the stability control turned off gave it far better driving dynamics than its non-AMG predecessors. This stunning 2011 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Saloon is presented in Obsidian Black metallic with matching Anthracite Black leather interior and black ash wood trim. Designed by Alex Issigonis in 1959, a new concept in car design was born. With a monocoque shell, transversely mounted engine and front wheel drive, the new 'Mini', as it was commonly known, soon became popular across a broad spectrum of the population. The potential for competition use was soon seen by John Cooper and although Alex Issigonis was less keen, BMC were finally persuaded by John Cooper and the two worked together in culminating the birth of the Austin Mini Cooper and the Morris Mini Cooper in 1961. Victories in the 1964, 1965 and 1967 Monte Carlo Rallies set the Mini on the road to fame but probably the greatest publicity was gained from their (somewhat unfair) disqualification for lighting irregularities in the 1966 event after coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. A more powerful Mini Cooper, dubbed the 'S', was developed in tandem and released in 1963. Featuring a 1071cc engine and larger servo-assisted disc brakes, 4,030 Cooper S cars were produced and sold until the model was updated in August 1964. Cooper also produced two S models specifically for circuit racing in the under 1,000 cc and under 1,300 cc classes respectively, rated at 970cc and a 1,275cc. The smaller-engine model was not well received, and only 963 had been built when the model was discontinued in 1965. The 1,275 cc Cooper S models continued in production until 1971.Originally supplied to Portugal, this delightful left hand drive Mini Cooper has been subject to a major restoration including upgrades to Cooper S specification. Imported to the UK in 2019, it has been on static display as part of a private collection but has recently been subject to some recommissioning and so is ready to be enjoyed by its new custodian. Supplied with Portuguese registration documents but it comes with a Nova certification confirming UK taxes paid. Consigned by John Dutton. After spending his formative years as a motor manufacturer experimenting with a variety of models, Henry Ford pared the company's range down to just one - the legendary Model T - destined to become the world's first truly mass-produced automobile. Introduced in October 1908, the Model T boasted a simple 100" wheelbase chassis that contrived to be both lightweight and durable thanks to the pioneering use of vanadium steel. The chassis track width of 56" was the same as that of a horse-drawn wagon, thereby enabling the Model T safely to negotiate rutted dirt roads. The engine was a 20hp four-cylinder side valve displacing 2,896cc and the transmission a simple-to-use two-speed planetary unit. It is said that throughout the Model T's 19-year production life the thing that changed most often was the price, although in actual fact Ford made detail improvements to the car on an annual basis. Notable early developments were the adoption of electric lighting in 1915, a switch from brass to a black-finished radiator the following year and the option of an electric starter in 1919.This is a rare opportunity to own a 1925 Model T Ford which has featured in many television series such as Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge but has also been seen in films such as Fantastic Beasts, Wicked Little Letters, and to be shortly to be released, 7 Dials from the Agatha Christie novel. This Model T has multiball characters of its own in one scene it is a two-seat runabout, then twenty minutes later with the back body changed it’s a Model T Pickup, then you can add the canvas top you have a Model T Van. Restored and rebuilt by the previous owner who purchased it in parts in 2010. Acquired by the current owner, once it had been completed, in 2012 to add to his fleet of film hire cars and World War Two military vehicles. In his care he has kept it fully maintained including adding a high-speed starter. Recent work carried out was to completely rebuild the rear axle. Finished in factory black with black seats this Ford Model T is supplied with a V5C registration document and is ready to continue work on the silver screen or just be used on the occasional classic car rally. The 1,275 cc Cooper S models continued in production until 1971.Delivered new to sunny Florida in 1966 this beautiful Island Blue with Old English white roof Mk. I 1275cc Mini Cooper S was repatriated into the United Kingdom in 2017. On its arrival the car was then subject to a no expense spared nut and bolt rebuild over a two year period of which much is catalogued and at which time it was converted to right hand drive, upon the restoration the odometer was zero’ d, 44 miles of running in later and the speedo on this example in July stopped working thus will need to be addressed by the new owner but only circa 20 miles have been covered since. The end result of the restoration speaks for itself, presented with a huge file of expenditure to back up the no nonsense approach to the restoration. Other than a few subtle upgrades in spotlights, Minilight wheels and period wooden steering wheel this car remains original. Offered with the Heritage Certificate and an MoT test certificate until March 2025, this absolutely stunning example is now ready for a new adventure and this Mini Cooper S is ready to be enjoyed by any budding Italian Job afficionado! A more powerful Mini Cooper, dubbed the 'S', was developed in tandem and released in 1963.This Morris Mini Cooper with a build date in June 1967 was dispatched to Kennings Ltd, Sheffield and registered in July 1967. In 1998 it went to Anchor Autos Bristol where it received a full body and mechanical restoration to ‘S’ specification with twin tanks and heated screens front and rear. This included the engine being bored to 1340cc and fitted with a ‘fast road’ camshaft and the gearbox rebuilt with straight cut gears. The suspension and brakes were rebuilt using Cooper S parts. The front seats were replaced with rally bucket seats and rally instruments fitted to the dashboard. We are told that the odometer was zero’d at the time of the restoration, and it has only travelled 9,000 miles since. It was purchased by the vendors husband in November 2005 when the car had covered about 7,000 miles. There is a large history file including old MoTs, invoices for works and a report which details the restoration of 1998 together with a detailed handwritten owner’s record of subsequent service works, MoTs and petrol purchases. Finished in Island Blue with Old English White roof with black rally interior, it is supplied with a V5 registration document, an original Mini Drivers Handbook and a Heritage Certificate. It was rumoured that at launch in Frankfurt 1996, the Lotus management were slightly disappointed with the 700-kilo figure proudly displayed as kerb weight for their new Elise. Putting that into perspective that meant you could balance the scales with one 718 Porsche Boxster convertible against two of Norfolk’s finest 90’s Series 1 versions … and they were hoping for less!! Named after Elise the granddaughter of Romano Artioli (Lotus Chairman at the time) this would be the sportscar to save the Norfolk brand, as the dated Esprit was the only offering in the Lotus range at the time. It was Richard Rackham, head of Lotus’ engineering who created a 68 kg chassis using bonded, hydroformed aluminium. Car magazine said at the time ‘The acceleration, the zest, the eye-popping ability to change speed and direction, the sheer unbridled sense of motion – these are what make driving the Elise so special and intense.’ A mere 5.5 seconds to 60mph the Elise is no slouch, courtesy in-part to Rover’s 1.8 K-series mated to a close ratio Honda derived five-speed transmission combined with an incredible power to weight ratio. This example was registered 1st April 1998. Having had two previous owners, the current custodian took over the wheel in May 2006. The original bill of sale confirms southwest London as the first home having been supplied by well-known Lotus dealers Bell & Colvill in Leatherhead. The service history is comprehensive to say the least with both original factory pack containing technical and maintenance booklets plus an additional file of invoices and MoT certificates etc.In September 2021 Country Classic Cars were tasked with returning this Lotus to top form. A ‘whatever she needs’ approach was taken and the work carried out over the following months included: full service all filters, Cambelt, water pump and coolant change, AP upgraded brake master cylinder, Competition (Compbrake) brake calipers, lines and discs, suspension upgrade to coil overs, steering and suspension parts powder coated, anti-roll bar drop links, track rod ends/ inner & outer toe link joints, ball joints/ wheel bearings, fuel tank, fuel pump & sender, handbrake cable plus equaliser, new alternator & battery, gear linkage kit and clutch master cylinder hose, throttle body, battery isolator, idle control valve, headlight covers and full specialist geometry set up including caster/camber … the owner has invested over £10k with Country Classic Cars in mechanical improvements alone. New soft top, removable steering wheel, larger alloy rims (to accommodate brake upgrade) locking wheel nuts, recent Tracmax tyres and finally a full respray in the original Mustard Yellow. It is fair to say this Elise wants for little. The exterior presents very well indeed and the recent respray is of the highest standard and the shut lines and panel gaps are exact, lights and lenses all correct whilst the black vinyl soft roof (generally stored in the boot space behind the engine) is free from damage. There is a Sony audio system, heater plus switches for lighting, cut off switch also a net for storage. Removing the steering wheel aids when sliding into place and with the seat fully back there is ample room for all but the tallest of drivers. The immobiliser stick requires a couple of seconds to release the start function and the dash lights up showing current milage of 41,503. Exact steering and a feeling of endless grip inspires confidence, the new braking system ensures stopping is even more impressive than the acceleration. This Elise not only looks right but is now ready to bring excitement and joy to a new custodian, precise and focused no doubt any outing in this Lotus will be an experience. The current MoT test certificate expires in June 2025, with just one advisory for a tired wiper blade, now replaced. Consigned by James Good. The history of Aston Martin’s V8 saloon is well documented but what is less known perhaps is the final series, or Oscar India (October Introduction), especially when specified with the extremely rare (and in this instance original) dogleg ZF manual gearbox which sets itself in a league of its own with, according to the AMHT, 26 being built and only 15 of which were right hand drive. It should thus be noted that this is a genuine factory manual example and not mistaken for a later conversion.Still on the original 1983 registration and with matching numbers as confirmed by the enclosed Heritage Certificate, the factory options at the time were a manual gearbox, two rear fog lamps, Cibie headlights in the front grille and, interestingly, a rear silencer delete. Also enclosed is a large history file going back to delivery in the early eighties including the original stamped service book, owner’s manual, warranty card, old MoT’s and numerous invoices. The registration document shows only three owners and is probably the lowest produced configuration of the Oscar India with only twelve right hand drive examples complete with a manual gearbox ever made.Originally purchased through Victor Wilson Ltd. in Edinburgh by Robertson Baxter Ltd, (Distillers) in the original and present colour scheme of Raven Black with a contrasting burgundy leather interior. There then follows a comprehensive service history as well as a number of period upgrades including a complete engine rebuild to 5.7 Vantage capacity and X-Pack specification with new liners, pistons, valves, high-profile cams and larger carburettors and inlet manifold. Additionally, the correct ZF five-speed gearbox has been rebuilt with a short-shift added and new clutch. A full-flow, oil-cooler with thermostat has also been fitted as well as a Harvey Bailey handling kit offering a much-improved handling and roadholding driving experience with lower & stiffer suspension, rebuilt dampers, stiffer front anti-roll bars as well as the additional of a rear anti-roll bar. * Walter Nurnberg (1907-1991). A fine suite of 65 industrial photographs, commissioned for Talbot-Stead Tube Co. Ltd. of Walsall, West Midlands, [late 1940s], vintage gelatin silver prints, showing workers, tubes, machinery and production processes with sophisticated lighting and man and machine interplay, each 29 x 24.5 cm, laid on card with ink negative captions at foot and with numbered typed captions to versos (1-78, but without nos. 14, 17, 34, 39, 40, 44, 49, 52, 54, 55, 62, 65 & 75), hand-lettered title-page on card (stating ‘Vol. 2’), filing holes to extreme left margins but now loose in its old red cloth filing folderQTY: (65)NOTE:Walter Nurnberg FRPS FIBP was a German-born British photographer, known for his industrial photography taken during the period 1945 to the 1970s. Working alongside his wife Rita (1914-2001), Nurnberg is credited for his use of cinematographic lighting techniques, used in New Objectivity and Bauhaus-style photography, which he utilised in both his early advertising work and later work in industry. After the Second World War, the Nurnbergs concentrated their collective skills in documenting and celebrating the workers of Britain, making photographs for many of the nation's most significant companies. Their distinctive style of black and white images, as is evident from these technically and aesthetically advanced prints, helped transform the image of post-war British industry. This possibly unique photographic archive concerns the Talbot-Stead Tube Company. It was founded in 1906 by W. J. Talbot and Geoffrey Stead, and was the largest of the Walsall tube-making firms. The firm concentrated on seamless steel tubes, supplying boiler tubes made for the Royal Navy during the First World War and for the liner Queen Mary. It amalgamated in 1931 with Tube Investments Ltd., and in 1962 became T.I. Stainless Tubes Ltd. In 1972 the company decided to close the works and the site. The following year, T.I. Chesterfield Ltd. took a lease of part of the site to continue limited production of stainless-steel tubes.
