André Citroën approached René Lalique to come up with an appropriate design for his new 5CV (Chevaux Vapour) motorcar, what Lalique produced was a marvellous concept reflecting the car in animal form. This being the first official car mascot produced for a specific make of automobile.

MUNI PAUL: (1895-1967) Austrian-Hungarian born American Actor, Academy Award winner. A good vintage signed and inscribed 7 x 9.5 photograph of Muni seated in a three quarter length pose lighting a cigarette. Signed in bold, dark fountain pen ink to a light area at the base of the image and dated 11th May 1942 in his hand. A rare model of a ¾ inch scale Allchin Showman s engine by Taylor Hemmens, of Market Harborough , engine number 646 and bearing brass builders plate to cylinder block. Named Jessie. The model being live steam driven with fitted pressure gauge, two road speeds, whistle, eccentric operated water pump from open crank, belt driven lighting generator fitted to front of engine. The model finished in burgundy lined paintwork with brass olivers supporting traditional canopy with chimney extension. The spoked yellow lined wheels having brass hub-caps and fitted road tyres. Length 39cm. Width 17cm. In fitted glass display case.
