^ Royal Enfield Bullet Registration Number: YJ51 NHF First Registered: 01-09-2001 Engine Size: 500cc Colour: Red Engine Number: 1B510755B Frame Number: ME3BBBDB41C010755 V5C present The Royal Enfield Bullet 500 follows the iconic, hand-crafted design of the original 1950s Bullet. The Enfield is synonymous with Indian motorcycle adventures and was the staple, affordable workhorse on the British roads pre 1970. The reintroduction of the Royal Enfield to the UK roads in the late 1980s, now made under licence by the indigenous Indian Madras Motors in Chennai, India. Royal Enfield can now boast the prize of being the oldest global manufacturing brand in continuous production! The introduction of a five-speed gearbox meant that Royal Enfield could 'fix' one of the long-standing quirks of the Bullet design-the foot-brake is on the left side while the gearshift is on the right. For those that wanted a classic style motorcycle with pedigree but were not interested in fixing old motorcycles on the side of the road, this was the perfect option. Basically, a brand new classic bike with no oil leaks, modern brakes, lighting and a smooth gear change. This 2001 Bullet is in fabulous condition, showing low miles. Clearly owned by an enthusiast, it is showing no signs of wear or corrosion, paintwork is excellent and mechanically as you would expect from a well cared for example. Ready to ride and enjoy. Buyer's premium of 10% (+VAT) applies to this lot. Excellent all round condition, very good original paintwork. Chrome and casings good. Runs and selects gears well.

Lot 284

1929 Austin Seven 'Chummy' Tourer Registration Number: SV 9203 First Registered:15-07-1929 Mileage: TBC Engine Size: 858cc Colour: Blue Engine Number: M91675 Chassis Number: A94072 V5C present The Austin ''Seven'' was introduced in 1922 and remained in production until 1939. Almost 300,000 were built, of which 10,000 are known to survive worldwide. Built at Longbridge, Birmingham, it was intended to provide affordable four-wheel transport for the working man and his family. The earliest models had a 696cc engine and a three-speed crash gearbox, with a wheelbase of six feet three inches. It was available only as an open tourer with just enough room for two adults and two small children. This type of body was and is known as a ''Chummy''. The Chummy has long been a firm favourite with Bugatti and Bentley owners usually favouring them over their exotic stable. Eligible for VSCC and light car events they serve as a highly thought of entry to trials , hill climbs and driving tests. Or the perfect car for a summers evening ramble to the local pub. The current owner has informed us that this example was very much a daily driver and consequently in good, usable mechanical condition and contains much originality so popular now with pre-war car owners. Paintwork is generally very presentable as is the interior, instrumentation and lighting are correct, with the added benefit of a modern indicator system . The hood is clean and the hood mechanism works as it should and sitting on period style tyres in good order. For those enthusiasts who would like to own a more patinated but sound Chummy, this one is for you. Prices have held up well for nice examples with 20k often being achieved in sales . One recently sold at Bonhams Beaulieu sale this year for an astounding £36,000. Buyer's premium of 10% (+VAT) applies to this lot. Predominantly original car. Repainted later. Some chips and crazing to paintwork. Seats re-trimmed in Rexine. Very good chrome-work. Good tyres. Starts and drives well.

Most Unusual and Regimentally Important British Officers Cuff Rank Tunic Attributed to Colonel Rookes Evelyn Bell Crompton CB FRS Royal Engineers, the tunic is constructed from a lightweight denim material with bronzed officers collar badges and brass regimental tunic buttons. Cuff rank for Colonel. Above the breast pocket is medal ribbons for the Order of the Bath, Crimea medal and Boer War Queens South Africa medal. Interior with lower shell dressing pocket. Tunic shows just light service wear. Rookes Evelyn Bell Crompton, CB, FRS was a British electrical engineer, industrialist and inventor. He was a pioneer of electric lighting and public electricity supply systems. The company he formed, Crompton & Co., was one of the world's first large-scale manufactures of electrical equipment. He was also an early campaigner for an international standard for electrical systems. He was involved with both the practical and academic sides of his discipline, being a founder member of the International Electrotechnical Commission and twice president of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. He was a fellow of the Royal Society and a founder member of the Royal Automobile Club. He was born near Thrisk, North Yorkshire on 31st May 1845. His education was interrupted by the outbreak of the Crimean War in 1854, he was so interested in the event that in 1856 he travelled to the Crimea on HMS Dragon and visited his brother in what was the front line. Due to this travel he made a claim for the Crimea medal with clasp Sebastopol, something in which he was not entitled to, however he felt he should have been so wore the ribbon for the medal on his tunic. When the Royal Engineers Electrical Volunteers were formed in 1897, Crompton became the commanding officer and served with the force in the Boer War, being heavily involved in the use of searchlights during combat due to the high percentage of night time attacks launched by the Boer’s. He was mentioned in despatches for his service during the Boer War and also made companion of the Order of the Bath. He was appointed honorary colonel of the London Electrical Engineers in 1911 and 27th (London Electrical Engineers) Battalion RE in 1923. He died in North Yorkshire in February 1940. This tunic formed was formerly part of the Barrie Morris collection and exhibited in his museum in North Yorkshire. When the museum closed the tunic was purchased by the current vendor.
