1988 Range Rover Vogue SE by Kingsley Cars (4.8 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:63000Kingsley Cars Ltd are best known for the re-engineered programme. They have been re-engineering classic Range Rovers since 2011, utilising more modern mechanics, in car entertainment, interior trimming, braking and suspension. The final product is nothing short of a masterpiece, affectively what has become known as a 'restomod', these Range Rovers are in huge demand today and cost in the region of £170,000 to build. The car you see today is where it all began, as the first Kingsley Cars Ltd demonstrator back in 2011. The car is fitted with a high torque 4.8 litre Kingsley fettled Rover V8, producing 275bhp. The engine was replaced by Kingsley in 2022, only covering around 3,000 miles since. Power is fed through a five-speed manual transmission, with short shift kit, making this Range Rover a delight to drive and really freeing up the engine compared with the more common automatic transmissions found in Range Rover's of this era. The suspension is adjustable and provides far better body control to the original offering. The car is presented in a stunning dark metallic silver, with red St James quilted leather interior. The leather doesn't stop there either, the parcel tray, grab handles and door cards are also shod in leather. The headlining and roof pillars are all trimmed with grey Alcantara, and the wool carpets are also bound in leather. Overall, the interior of this Range Rover is on a whole different level to the original car, making it feel far more modern accentuating the quality of the work carried out by Kingsley in 2011.Adding to the modern upgrades, the car has an upgraded sound system with Bluetooth connectivity, meaning it really offers everything you may need if you intend to use a classic as a daily driver. The lighting system has also been improved over the ageing original items. The headlights are now LED units with 650 Lumens low beam and 760 Lumens high beam, driving lamps have also been converted to Xenon. If you want to join the latest 'restomod' craze, this Range Rover by Kingsley could fit the bill perfectly. You are very unlikely to ever see another on the road and for those that know, this is just about as good as classic Range Rover ownership gets. Our vendor tells us the car can perform just like a sports car when needed, the engine and handling upgrades have created a car which is worlds apart from the original and yet the Range Rover can quite easily slip under the radar and be used as a relaxing daily driver at the same time. Offered with a very sensible estimate, this may be the only chance you have to buy a Kingsley fettled Range Rover for quite some time.

The first generation Gallardo came with a 4961cc, V10 engine and offered two choices of transmission, a conventional six-speed manual transmission and an advanced six-speed, electro hydraulically controlled, semi-automatic, which Lamborghini abbreviates to 'E-Gear'. In March 2010, Lamborghini announced the release of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, a lightweight and more powerful version of the Gallardo LP 560 €“4 in the same vein as the previous Superleggera. Performance has been improved to 0-62 in 3.2 seconds, and 204mph top speed. The Superleggera is often compared with the Ferrari 430 Scud, values of which are in excess of £180,000 for similarly aged and mileage cars. See JayEmm's review of the Superleggera on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTFy179llF0&t=43s and why he thinks this car is a great buy. The painting is bathed in light which invades the scene from the left, highlighting the young mother and the child's cradle and making them glow with a shimmering luminescence. 'Gysis often used two kinds of lighting in his paintings: a general, diffuse lighting and a local one that highlighted the figures or objects he wanted to be particularly pronounced.'1 The generalised rendering, soft outlines and elimination of detail point to the artist's venture beyond the descriptive and the anecdotal and his ability to engage the viewer in the narrative by relying on purely pictorial means. Working within a subdued scale, Gysis suggests texture, space and atmosphere by subtle modulations of tone and intensity that demonstrate his amazing skill in the freer handling of form. Juxtaposing calmly handled surfaces to areas treated with swift, energetic brushstrokes, he simultaneously conveys a sense of reverence and cheerfulness, offering a genuine insight into the wonder of family and motherhood.'Praised like no other Modern Greek painter, Gysis, who lived and worked abroad, conveyed subjects of genuine Greek character, distinguished by vigorous palette in describing rural interiors, romantic disposition in relaying Greek traditions, familiarity and directness in portraying folk types and veiled nostalgia in capturing scenes of everyday life.'21 M. It was developed in the late 19th century and was considered one of the most advanced microscopes of its time. William Watson was a British microscope maker who began working on the design of a high-quality microscope in the 1870s. He was motivated by a desire to improve the quality of microscopes used for scientific research and medical diagnosis. He worked on several designs before settling on the final one in collaboration with Jean-Baptiste van Heurck. The Watson-Heurck microscope was designed to improve upon the limitations of existing microscopes. The optics had a good range of magnification and resolution, allowing for more detailed observations of specimens. It also had a more stable base, reducing vibrations and improving the clarity of the image. One of the key features of the Watson-Heurck microscope was its use of a sub-stage condenser. This allowed for more even lighting of the specimen and reduced the distortion caused by uneven illumination. The Watson-Heurck microscope was widely used in scientific research and medical diagnosis throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was particularly popular for studying diatoms, single-celled organisms with intricate, glass-like shells that are difficult to observe with standard microscopes. The Van Heurck microscope was available in various models, but this, the 'Exhibition' stand, was the most expensive and was sold only as a special order microscope. Due to the cost of this microscope when new very few are found today with the binocular head, most are monocular. The Watson-Heurck microscope remained popular until the mid-20th century when newer technologies, such as electron microscopes, became more widely available. However, it is still used today by some researchers and collectors of antique scientific instruments. Overall, the Watson-Heurck microscope was a significant advancement in the field of microscopy and played an important role in scientific research and medical diagnosis during its time.

Ian Emes (British, Born 1949): A Multi-Cel Set Up for 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' titled 'Speak To Me - I've Been Mad For Fucking Years', 1974, an original animation cel comprising two cel set-up, gouache on celluloid, depicting the album cover's iconic prism, against a black background in mount and framed, accompanied by a letter from the artist, 12 1/2in x 10in (32cm x 25.5cm) Footnotes: Provenance: Offered directly by the artist. Inspired by and created for Pink Floyd's World Tour of their landmark album The Dark Side Of The Moon. Made for projection onto the famous circular screen, aka 'Mr Screen', for the track Speak To Me. In July 1971 Ian Emes graduated with First Class Honours in Fine Art at Birmingham College of Art. While having no interest in animation, when he saw the Beatles' film Yellow Submarine and the Slit Scan sequence in Kubrick's 2001:A Space Odyssey, he was transformed and saw the unlimited scope that the medium offered. This coincided with another significant event in his life. Attending a party, Emes was enveloped by the pall of drug-related smoke in the air. Pink Floyd's album Meddle was playing at full volume and the track One Of These Days in particular, sparked an intense vision of a film. He immediately drafted a storyboard of the dream-like images he had imagined in his hallucinatory state. Over the next six months Emes set about creating an animated film called French Windows, without guidance and devising his own techniques. It was a technically ambitious project and he produced 5,640 drawings which were traced onto celluloid sheets and painted. He then spent a further two months filming frame by frame. Running the processed film on a 16mm picture synchroniser alongside a magnetic track of One Of These Days, he could hardly comprehend the film that he had produced - but the ground was laid for a lifelong career as an animator. In 1973 Emes moved to work in London. Meanwhile French Windows began garnering awards. It was also shown on BBC TV's flagship rock programme The Old Grey Whistle Test, where it was seen by Pink Floyd's Rick Wright. The next day Emes was contacted by the band's manager, Steve O'Rauk, who said that they wanted to see the film. Emes initially thought he was in trouble for using their music without permission. He booked a preview theatre in London's Soho and waited for the band to arrive. Writing in February 2023, Emes described the meeting: 'On time, one by one, the Pink Floyd members trooped into the theatre and sat beside me. A naive 24 year-old with no experience in the music industry, I was terrified. These musicians were my Gods. The lights dimmed and French Windows played in perfect sync to One of These Days . David Gilmour drummed his fingers on the armrest and three minutes into the film he paused and whispered, 'Did you cut out some of the music?' I had in fact edited 30 seconds out of a repeating riff thus reducing a five-minute track to 4 1/2 and saving an additional two months of drawing. The edit was undetectable to most but not Gilmour. Now I was certain that I was in trouble. The band thanked me politely and departed without saying another word. The next day I received a call from O'Rauk – Pink Floyd wanted me to animate their album, The Dark Side Of The Moon.' Three of the band's members were former architecture students and Emes believes this is one of the reasons they responded to the flowing spatial structures of his animation. His work also provided a way to replace lighting effects with moving images that were synchronised to the music, thus making a statement, albeit enigmatic. It allowed for unlimited imagery and avoided a human element because it was the band's remit to remain enigmatic. Pink Floyd were reluctant celebrities and preferred anonymity. Emes was given carte blanche with the project. His storyboards visualised the entire album, with sequences for all tracks. In a tiny studio and with three assistants, frame by frame he animated the clock sequences for Time, which were formatted for 'Mr. Screen', the now-iconic circular screen used by the band in their live shows. The Time animation was first shown at the band's performance at the Empire Pool, Wembley in November 1974. Together with VIPs including Paul McCartney and Mike Oldfield, Emes watched the show, which dazzled the audience with its combination of incredible music and futuristic visuals. This was a first in the history of rock concerts and a precursor of today's immersive experiences. While Pink Floyd were on tour, Emes expanded his team and worked around the clock on his animation. When the band returned he screened the completed animation and Roger Waters remarked: 'You have made your own film on our money.' Not exactly a stamp of approval but Roger then proffered some of his own ideas for sequences. He had realised the potential of animation, which would become the medium of choice for his spectacular solo concerts. Pink Floyd continued to use Emes' footage for the next fifty years and his animation has become intrinsic to the band's legacy. Released in March 1973, the statistics for The Dark Side Of The Moon are impressive. These include: Third equal on the list of best-selling albums of all time; Billboard album chart for 736 consecutive weeks (March '73-July '88); in 2006, combined total of 1,716 weeks on Billboard 200 and Pop Catalog charts; in 1998 certified x15 platinum in the US; certified x14 platinum in the UK; in 2017, seventh best-selling album in the UK; best-selling album of the 1970s; total worldwide sales by 2013 estimated at 45 million; 55th on Rolling Stone magazine's 2020 list of 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time; in 2012 selected for preservation in the US National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress. GLEN GRANT 8 YEAR OLD 1970S 26 2/3 FL OZ SPEYSIDE SINGLE MALT Glen Grant was the first distillery in Scotland to have electric lighting installed, thanks to its forward-thinking owner, and all-round colourful character, Major James Grant. Grant was an innovator who was one of the first people to realise the potential of exporting whisky abroad. Initially, this paid dividends, and in 1897 The Major began construction of a second distillery across the road. However, as was the case with so many distilleries built around this time, Glen Grant 2 was mothballed after just a few years. Although, it did re-open in 1965 under the name Caperdonich. While it might not be a household name in the UK, Glen Grant is consistently one of the top selling single malts in Italy due to the groundwork laid by legendary importer Armando Giovinetti in the 1960s. It, therefore, seems appropriate that the distillery is now owned by Campari, an Italian company.70° Proof / 26 2/3 fl oz

One of only eight H.J. Mulliner Two-Door S3 Continental Coupés, finished in Pine Green and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cars in the world. The Series 3 is perhaps the ultimate post-war Bentley in terms of appearance, performance and practicality, as well as the last medium sized Bentley to be offered with custom coachwork and H J Mulliner of Chiswick were responsible for some of the most iconic and beautiful coachwork designs on post-war Bentley chassis, especially the Continental variants. Their styling of the R-Type and S1 Continental fastback coupés evolved into the S2 Continental Coupé, with the final development being Design No. 2012: the S3 Continental Coupé. The car’s flowing lines were very similar to those of its predecessor, but Mulliner's third-generation Continental was produced in far fewer numbers, with just eight cars in right-hand drive and a further three in left-hand drive.Quad headlamps were the S3's major styling innovation and the indicators on the new models were incorporated into redesigned sidelights, positioned on the front of the wings. Headlamps aside, the most significant change was to the S3's engine, which boasted an increased compression ratio, larger carburettors and a Lucas vacuum-advance distributor, modifications that raised peak power by some 7%. The car’s power steering was further developed offering more feel in the straight ahead position but remaining light and user friendly when trying to ease this substantial automobile into a parking bay. A further minor change was the adoption of smaller bumper over-riders and a slightly reduced radiator height of about 1.5'', giving a sloping bonnet line and improving forward vision. Individual front seats and arm rests became a standard feature, and more powerful lighting and additional indication lights and switches on the instrument panel were introduced, presenting a far more modern feel to the last of the S-series Bentleys.Chassis number BC 88 XA is one of those original eight right-hand drive cars and is recorded as having been completed on 22nd February 1963 and supplied new by H.R. Owen of Mayfair to its first proud owner after being registered and taxed on 1st of March, 1963. It’s finished in a glorious shade of Pine Green with a single gold coach line over a magnificent tan leather interior. There is a fair amount of history with the car and a decent number of invoices for work completed between 1987 and 2005. A Minor Road Test and Workshop Mechanical Report was carried out for the car’s then owner, K.J.Riding Felce, by P&A Wood and their recommendations were carried out as confirmed by a 12-page invoice dated 7th July 1987 and totalling £11,374.27. This work was purely mechanical and system and accessory-related and didn’t involve any bodywork or trim. Further invoices detail servicing and maintenance and the work was always entrusted to well known Bentley specialists including P.J.Fischer, Jack Barclay, M.B.Jarvie, and Broughtons. We note that on 5th December 1988 the car was fitted with seatbelts and a car telephone at a cost of £1,064.33. Within the file there are a substantial number of previous MOT Certificates dating from December 1988 at 80,993 miles (registered 698 JGK and subsequently 1551 DM) up until late April 2010 at 91,313 miles (registered XMW 81A).There are a couple of Bills of Sale with the car indicating that it was purchased by Geoffrey Greenwood on 17th October 1988 for £85,000 and became the property of Dr James Hull on 26th October 2010 for £156,000. In common with the rest of Dr Hull’s extensive Collection, the Continental joined our vendor in 2014. The current indicated mileage is 91,335, meaning that this fabulous motor car has covered a mere 24 miles in the last 23 years so inevitably will need some commissioning before retuning to the road. One of only eight S3 Continentals by HJM, this is a rare car, in decent order, with a gorgeous interior and clothed in a coat of Pine Green so deep that you feel you could dive in. It’s a time capsule on wheels, a wonderful example of how brilliant British coachbuilding could be when talented young designers at James Young, Hooper, Park Ward, and Mulliners were given a box of sharp pencils and a free hand.We welcome and encourage you to come along to Sywell, sit in this elegant Bentley and be smitten.SpecificationMake: BENTLEYModel: S3 CONTINENTAL COUPEYear: 1963Chassis Number: BC 88 XARegistration Number: XMW 81ATransmission: AutoEngine Number: 87ABCDrive Side: Right-hand DriveMake: RHDInterior Colour: Tan LeatherClick here for more details and images

His grandfather was a stone carver, his father a local painter. Lin learned both trades during his childhood and in 1919 travelled to France for six years to study and work at Dijon Art College and the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Beaux-Arts in Paris. In France, Lin studied European painting, especially works by Matisse, Picasso, and Modigliani. In 1923 he travelled widely in Germany. In 1979, he settled in Hong Kong, where he lived out his life. Lin's work integrated the Impressionists' technique of working with outdoor lighting with ink and wash and successfully blended Western principles of composition with figure sketches using Chinese colour and ink. See Three Thousand Years of Chinese Painting, New Haven, 1997, pp.323-324.In the middle of the 1950s, the new Communist Chinese government encouraged artists to serve the people and depict scenes of common people at work. Along with artists from the Shanghai Artists Association, Lin Fengmian travelled several times to the fishing grounds at Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province. Since then, Lin Fengmian created a series of paintings portraying the life and work of fishing villages. See Art 60 Years in China 1949-1979, Shijiazhuang, 2009, pp.72-73.Compare with a related painting of fishing by Lin Fengmian, illustrated in The Collected Works of Lin Fengmian, Tianjin, 1994, plate 182.Compare also with a related painting of a fishing village by Lin Fengmian, which was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 26 November 2016, lot 2512.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
