Early/mid 20th Century chinoiserie-decorated king-size bed, the headboard of break-arched design with cavetto-moulded cornice having acanthus decoration over green painted borders and arched panel decorated in shallow relief with a waterside scene of figures, buildings and a bridge, the low footboard of similar design on squat cabriole legs, together with iron runners and later slatted wooden bed base, 161cm wide x 131.5cm high Condition: General rubbing to gilded edge mouldings of headboard and foot, pine slates are of later date, some flaking to cabriole supports but overall sound - Please see extra images and TELEPHONE department if you require further information
A mid Victorian 19th century solid mahogany four poster double bed. The footboard with tall tapering inverse tapering reeded columns over block and turned bases. United to the back board by original oak base frame. The headboard with similar columns complet with the drapes and arcades in a chintz pattern having fabric roof. A very substantial late 19th century period Italian bedroom suite, principally in walnut comprising dressing chest with raised mirror back, triple wardrobe and bed frame, each piece with art nouveau inlaid floral detail, heavy cast brass panels showing cherubs, trailing flowers, etc, each with illuminated fittings (the images show the suite on location, the mirror panel to the wardrobe door is now missing and the marble top to the dressing table damaged), headboard 2.45 metre wide, wardrobe 2.10 metres wide, dressing table 1.60 metres wide

W. Winfield & Co. were well known during the 19th century for their production of metal bedsteads, gas lights and fittings although today they are best known for their unusual steel rocking chair. They exhibited at both the Great Exhibition of 1851, and again at the International Exhibition of 1862. At the former, they were one of 170 exhibitors awarded the council or first class medal for "superior excellence in general brass foundry, metallic bedsteads, and gas fittings."
