A modern cherry wood sleigh bed in the 19th Century French taste with ViSprung twin base, 192 cm wide x 220 cm long x 106 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Approx width 193 cm (external bedstead) and approx 185 cm wide (internally)Approx total length 246 cm total length (external bedstea) and approx 204 cm long (internally)Approx total width of the ViSprung base is 180 cm and total length is approx 200 cm.ALL SIZES ARE APPROXIMATE as the bed is not assembled and so measuring has been done in parts.Condition of bedstead - has knocks, bumps, etc throughout, some losses to the varnish, particularly noticeable on the top edge of the headboard. Bolts are missing. Base appears to be relatively clean and tidy. There is a difference in colour from one side of the bed to the other. General wear and tear conducive with age and use. Attributed to Jacob & Josef Kohn - an Austrian Secessionist curved bentwood and panelled double bed, the upper head and foot boards each with stylised and interlaced floral scroll decoration, the foot board with floral relief carved inset lower panel, the side rails with further conforming decoration (standard double 4ft 6")Condition report: Not suitable for standard mattress, measures approx. 150 x 200cm.No slats, additional bolts or springs.Headboard – uppermost central section is cracked in several places, some further cracks to other sections of bentwood, panels are slightly swollen discoloured and misshapen (probably from moisture).Footboard – some cracks to bentwood sections but fewer than headboard, general scuffs and signs of wear (particularly to the feet).Sides – the pressed panels are swollen, discoloured and misshapen (probably from moisture), some watermarks.The whole bed is well-used.With an unusual continental hinge and dowel arrangement to hold it together (which we have not tried).
