Ltd., Newcastle, to include: wardrobe fitted central cupboard doors enclosing sliding shelves, above four graduated drawers flanked by cupboard doors enclosing hanging spaces, raised on bracket feet; dressing table with large arched bevelled mirror above four jewellery drawers and five further drawers under, raised on tapering legs; a bedside pedestal cabinet; a doubled bed headboard; and an occasional chair, the wardrobe 83 x 27 x 82in. high, the dressing table 54 x 24 x 71 1/2in. high, the pedestal cabinet 16 x 15 x 32in. high.
A Louis XVI style painted chest, of three graduated long drawers, decorated flowers and foliage, 111 cm wide, a similar dressing chest, bed end, two marble top bedside cupboards, and a side cabinet, a mirror and an armchair (8) Condition report Condition report Report by GH The total width of the headboard is 162 cm. Report by RB The chest of drawers: rubbing, wear and tear etc to the paint, front left leg (as you look at it) is missing its metal mounts on the foot, general scratches. The two bedside cupboards (not a pair): both with marble tops, one with a cane work front is badly broken, general wear, knocks and rubbing. The bed end: nothing else with this (i.e. no rails or end), general wear, knocks and rubbing. The dressing table has a three plate mirror, not currently attached, the shaped glass top is broken. Overall, quite a smart thing originally, but has been used and enjoyed over sometime, would now benefit from a clean tidy up. It has been in storage for about ten years.
Striking late 20th century Biedermeier style bedroom suite in light figured wood veneer with embossed brass fittings manufactured by Bernhardt, comprising cabinet on stand, the electrically illuminated interior with mirror back and single drawer beneath (height 182cm, width 118cm, depth 61cm); a very large double headboard with scrolled top rail and band of probably walnut veneer (height 186cm, width 188cm); and a three drawer serpentine fronted chest (width 113cm, height 84cm, depth 60cm)
A Victorian walnut bed, with arched rear bed head in deep buttoned and foliate patterned material, with carved showframe, well figured and decorated with leaves. Mattress width 152.5 cm (60 inches), length 191 cm (75 inches) (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This bed is in generally extremely good condition. The foot board is in extremely good original condition with no significant veneer issues. There are some minor scuffs and scratches but no problem areas. The left hand leg has one section of moulding missing on the return. The left hand side rail is in very good order. The right hand side rail has veneer nibbles along the bottom edge. The bed has a purpose built spring base which sits on top of the side rails. There are no supporting cross members and none are necessary. The padded headboard is in generally very good condition as is all of the deep buttoning. The material is slightly brighter where the over mattress will have been. The bed head itself is in extremely good order and the only losses are to the moulded beading around the bottom of the legs. The bed is structurally extremely sound and there is no evidence of any woodworm.
A Queen Anne style upholstered headboard, with scrolling moulded showframe and upholstered in foliate patterned material. Width 142 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This headboard does require reupholstering. It is however structurally very sound and clearly very well constructed. There are no loose joints and no warping. The headboard is fairly heavy. It has a solid back and the moulded surround has been applied to this back. As stated there are no issues with the construction simply the state of the upholstery which is clearly original.
An impressive contemporary gilt heightened hardwood bedroom suite, comprising 7ft bed head, the headboard with raised foliate scrolled decoration flanked by fluted uprights, a side cabinet set with drawers on carved plinth base, width 183cm, a decorative mirror with bevelled plate and foliate scroll uprights and a pair of three drawer bedside cabinets, width 78cm (5). CONDITION REPORT Length of bed also approx 7ft/220cm.
