A MODERN REPRODUCTION FOUR-POSTER BED in the 19th century style, having a canopy of ruffled yellow material, sunburst around a carved central boss, moulded and foliate carved pediment, raised on four turned, fluted and foliate carved posts, linked by an arched headboard and plain rails. 223.5cm(h) x 236cm(L) x 180cm(d) Condition Report: The pediment being glued at some stage and fixing missing, some marks and scratches etc, viewing advised.
A fine and important Elizabethan oak and marquetry full tester bed c.1600 and later, the canopy with a large diamond shaped panel to one end, centred by a dentil bordered pyramid, with conforming dentil, foliate lunette and guilloche carved border, the opposing end with three oval engraved panels centred by smaller pyramids, within foliate scalloped borders, all within guilloche outer borders, the inner sides of the canopy with foliate lunette carving, the outer sides with carved foliate strapwork, pyramids and grotesque masks, below dentil and navette carved mouldings and a foliate carved flare cornice, the canopy supported on two substantial foliate, gadroon and floral carved cup and cover supports, raised on unusual arcaded four column bases with foliate carving and stop fluting, set on square plinths, each centred with a carved female figure dressed in a gown and with hands together holding an acorn, the headboard centred by two fruitwood and oak marquetry panels with floral sprays beneath arched fo iate lunettes and flanked by stiff leaf pilasters, divided by two male and central female caryatids headed by foliate bows and footed by lion masks with stylised scrolled whiskers, below a foliate guilloche frieze, centred by sunflower roundels and divided by three crouching male figures, the central figure with protruding tongue, below a floral and foliate carved and stepped cornice, the lower section with pronounced gadroon carved girdle over four plain panels, 97in. (246.5cm.) long, 65¾in. (167cm.) wide, 75½in. (191.5cm.) high, complete with a modern King Size mattress, old (19th century) 10in. extension to the head end evident on the canopy and side rails, some alterations. * The design of this bed, notably the unusual four column bases to the canopy supports, in combination with the marquetry panelled headboard, appears to have been inspired by `The Great Bed of Ware`, one of the greatest treasures in the V&A`s collection, completed c.1590. A pair of silk interlined curtains, the striped green ground with applied floral sprays and matching headboard, together with a pair of velvet curtains with printed pattern CONDITION REPORTS Length approx. 230 cm, width approx. 240 cm each. Silk curtains - overall with some general wear and a few marks, but overall appear in reasonably good condition. Velvet curtains are very worn, faded and stained, and have various alterations, sections added to hems, alterations to width and length, some holes.
A 17th Century Style Carved Oak Full Tester Bed. The tester composed of lozenge carved panels inlaid with chevron bands and centred by a knopped daisywheel roundel in a cushion front panel edged in chip carving. The arcaded headboard enriched with marquetry panels of flowering plants flanking a foliate carved centre panel divided by inlaid pilasters of fruiting vines and having carved atlantes either side. The bulbous columnar foot posts above square moulded base sections. 82 ins (208 cms) high, 67 ins (170 cms) wide at its widest point (foot pillars), 95 ins (242 cms) in length.
An Impressive 17th Century & Later Carved Oak Full Tester Bed. The heavily carved headboard features 2 inlaid marquetry cedar panels flanked by caryatid figures, supporting floral decorations and leading to a carved decorative panel of sweeping scollwork. The panelled tester having a dentil moulded edge, raised on cup and cover foot posts enriched with foliate scrolls, terminating with bold square sections on moulded feet, united by an apexed footboard displaying carved daisies and roses. 83 ins (211 cms) high, 60 ins (152 cms) wide and 88 ins (224 cms) deep, mattress area 76 ins (193 cm) deep by 54 ins (137 cms) wide.

Provenance: Descended in a Louisiana Family.
