A FINE LOUIS XVI STYLE ORMOLU MOUNTED TULIPWOOD AND VARIOUS WOODS INLAID MARQUETRY BED, SIGNED, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the double arched crest rail centering a nicely cast and chased gilt bronze mount of a wavy bow ribbon entwined laurel leaf garland issuing a scrolling acanthus pendant, above the bombé headboard with shaped oval radiating star reserve within a ribbon tied berried laurel branch wreath and crossbanded border enclosed by à quatre face veneered panels, over a lower board with illegible fire branded signature, "H. Go...," flanked by fluted columnar sides surmounted by ripened pomegranate detailed finials and ending on circular oakleaf modeled collars, above side rails centering rectangular fluted marquetry detailed panels with leaf tip bronze trim and ending before the matching bombé footboard with similarly cast central pendant over beautiful marquetry, depicting a scrolling handled athenienne spewing puffy clouds and hung with a laurel leaf garland, flanked by blossoming vine entwined thyrsus staffs within a berried laurel branch wreath and enclosed by a quatre face inlay, flanked by fluted columnar sides surmounted by a curling tipped acanthus leaves domed finial, raised on fluted baluster form feet ending in leaf tip sabots. Height: 63" Width: 65 1/2" Depth 88 1/2" Condition: Good condition for antique French beds of this age, use and materials including but not limited to minor marks and small scratches throughout, age cracks, dry areas (needs a good waxing) slight fading from exposure and has been enlarged to fit a queen size mattress. A Barker & Stonehouse gilt framed double bed with button fabric headboard in the Louis XV syle, 160cm by 220cm by 120cm. Frame generally in good condition. Some chipping to the gilding but structurally sound. The upholstery to the headboard with two large patches of loss to the lower left and right, ideally would be re upholstered.
