A campaign four-poster bed, probably colonial, the headboard carved with supporters, the columns twist turned, the whole with carved foliate decoration, 152cm wide (5ft) 217cm long 210cm high CONDITION REPORT: Re-polished at some point during its life. Otherwise no obvious major faults. The sections are screwed together (view image). The bed appears old, but has been completely stripped and repolished so has the appearance of being much more recent. No apparent numbers. Timber appears to be teak or similar? Chargois, Jr., Lafayette, LA; by repute belonged to Jaques Villere, 2nd Governor of Louisiana. Note: The tester and cluster posts with Egyptian capitals and block bases on this bed are identical to those on a tester bed descended in a New Orleans family with a C. Lee pattern number stamp sold by Neal Auction Company as lot 684, July 17, 2010.

An American Rococo Carved Mahogany Half-Tester Bed An American Rococo Carved Mahogany Half-Tester Bed, mid-19th c., New Orleans, serpentine beaded tester, tapered chamfered posts, shaped crest centered by a feather carved cartouche, paneled headboard, shaped rails, conforming footboard, height 106 1/2 in., interior length 77 1/2 in., interior width 58 in Note: A related bed is in the collection of Stanton Hall, Natchez, MS. Antoher related bed bearing multiple "C. Lee" stamps, which descended in the family of Mississippi riverboat captain Tom Powell, was installed for many years at 2427 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans. Noth feautre headboard, rails and finials nearly identical to those seen here. Reference: The Powell bed was sold by Neal Auction Company as lot 902 April 9, 2009. Another C. A French style 4ft bed with cane head board and foot board Double caning to head and footboard, one hole to headboard, slightly loose to corner of footboard, otherwise caning good. Floral garland to footboard is split and one small piece missing. General scuffing to the paint work, especially to the edges and top rails.

Twin beds, Finn Juhl (1912-1989) for Baker Circa 1951, each with Baker Furniture metal label and marked to each component ``626``, of walnut and birch, each with angled headboard of vertical slats and a footboard composed of a wide downcurved toprail over a single spindle, 31.5`` H x 42.25`` W x 86`` D, est: $4000/6000 Note: An identical pair sold: ``Scandinavian Design``, Wright, Chicago, Il, May 12, 2011, Lot 222 ($16,000). Provenance: Private Collection, Claremont, CA. Condition: Overall good condition. General marks, scratches and rubbed wear commensurate with age and use. Scattered typical minor nicks and shallow dents. Typical wear to legs. One footboard with a 1.25`` x 1.5`` shallow loss to one leg, a tight shrinkage crack running full width of top rail (44.75``), and replaced glides. The other footboard with a 12``-long shrinkage crack to toprail. Light-colored spotting to each headboard on lower rail and lower part of legs.
