Musica e Teatro [Monteverdi, Claudio]. Striggio, Alessandro. La favola d`Orfeo rappresentata in musica il Carnevale dell`anno 1607. Nell`Accademia degl`Invaghiti di Mantova, sotto i felici auspizij del serenissimo sig. duca benignissimo lor protettore. Mantova, Francesco Osanna stampator ducale, 1607. Legato con: Rinuccini, Ottavio. L`Arianna tragedia del sig. Ottavio Rinuccini gentil`huomo della Camera del re cristianissimo. Rappresentata in musica nelle reali nozze del Serenissimo Principe di Mantova, e della Sereniss. Infanta di Savoia. Mantova, Francesco Osanna stampator ducale, 1608. In 4° (186 x 130 mm). Prima opera: 45, [1] pagine. Seconda opera [4], 46 pagine. Grandi armi xilografiche dei Gonzaga ai frontespizi, testate, capilettera e finalini incisi in legno (manca l’ultima carta bianca della prima opera, qualche alone d’umidità .) Legatura della seconda metà del secolo XVII in vitello spugnato, dorso liscio con eleganti decorazioni fitomorfe in oro, tassello arancione per il titolo, tagli marmorizzati. Monogramma BS al foglio di guardia. Magnifico insieme di due rari libretti d’opera. L’Orfeo è universalmente considerato il primo vero capolavoro della storia del melodramma, poiché impiega tutte le risorse fino ad allora concepite nell’arte musicale ed è la prima opera composta da Monteverdi. Editio princeps dell’Orfeo nella più rara emissione di 45 pagine. L’edizione dell’Arianna è coeva alla prima stampata a Firenze dai Giunti e a quella in formato 12° stampata da Ciotti a Venezia. Una bella nota bibliografica datata 1789 in principio del volume informa che “Questi furono dei primi drammi che si rappresentarono in Italia … Artega nella sua storia del melodramma cita questo Rinuccini”. L`unico testimone musicale arrivato fino a noi dell`Arianna è il celebre Lamento, scritto da Monteverdi nell`impressione della morte di sua moglie Claudia. Rarissimo. Per la prima opera Aresi, “Dai doppi finali alle edizioni anastatiche. Alcune considerazioni in merito alla tradizione de L’Orfeo, atti del convegno ‘Quattro secoli di mito.
