The Bentley Mulsanne is named after the Mulsanne Straight of the Le Mans racing circuit, Bentley cars having won six victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the past. Bentley brought back the Mulsanne nameplate that was last used in 1992; this model replaces the hugely successful Arnage and was unveiled at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2009. In keeping with the Arnage, the Mulsanne retained the 6750cc, V8 power unit, the engine was lighter and featured cylinder de-activation and variable cam phasing to improve fuel efficiency. It was the first flagship car to be independently designed by Bentley Motors in nearly 80 years; the last being W.O. Bentley's 8 litre model in 1930. Originally registered on 1st October 2011 this 2012 model year Bentley is finished in the colour combination of Onyx with Beluga leather interior. Already a very well-appointed car, this example comes with TV screens to the rear headrests offering an even more relaxed way to be driven. Supplied by Bentley Birmingham, this Mulsanne has been exceptionally well cared for with 11 stamps in the service book, nine of them at Bentley main dealers and the last two by respected specialist Bell Sport & Classic Ltd. The quality of ride offered by these exceptional cars has to be experienced to be appreciated, the driving experience of such a luxury car is like no other and the sumptuous interior is supremely comfortable. Additional extras on this car include a veneered iPod drawer, adaptive cruise control and rear-view camera. The cost when new was Bentley Mulsanne was £197,354.17. By the late 1980s, ABS (Auto Build-Up Services Ltd.) completed and manufactured a high quality example od the Scorpion kit car, albeit, at a price. Two versions were offered; the Scorpion, fully enclosed as per the original and the Monaco, an open top adaptation. To achieve the strength required for the convertible, partners that had worked for the Chevron and Shadow racing teams designed the space frame chassis. Not only would this chassis handle superbly but would also increase cabin space for improved driver and passenger comfort over the original. The ABS Scorpion kit car was produced from 1986 until 1991 with American V8 power. The car was made to be able to accept a range of V6 and V8 engines which gave the car a fantastic performance due to their light weight.This outstanding labour of love is a testament to those who both modified and customised the car when built. Presented in Ice White, the ABS Scorpion (Anniversary Model) is not a cheap car to create in the first place and to get right and then customise to this level would have cost in excess of £150,000. Climbing into the car via the automatic scissor doors, you sit upon Anniversary-style seats looking ahead at two fully digital dashboards, one an iPad and one much like the modern digital dash display in line with cars today. If the looks of were not futuristic enough, sitting in the driver seat makes you feel like you are in a spaceship all before you fire up the 3.9 litre V8 engine burbling through custom exhausts. Registered as a 1998 ABD Scorpion with full UK V5 this example has had a fully rebuilt engine and gearbox, the electronics on the car are impressive with modules to control everything from your digital cockpit including electronic brake bias and includes a reversing camera and phone connection. On the road there is nothing like driving such a car, frankly you feel like a million pounds driving this safe in the knowledge not only did you spend significantly less but also maintaining a Rover V8 is frankly easy! Having seen this car in action and the reaction you will get, we are rightly envious of any buyer… viewing is certainly recommended as we are certain you will not be disappointed.
