Rare Seaside Photographers Camera, As Used by Sunbeam Photos, Margate. Sunbeam Photos were one of the biggest companies taking 'walking pictures' and were at their height from the late 1940s and 50s. Their pictures were usually of holidaymakers strolling along the prom or lounging on the beach. This custom made camera, number 11 in the firms' inventory, was designed to take 100 shots on a continuous roll of photographic paper. The resulting paper negatives were then photographed, usually being slightly enlarged to post card size and the prints (hopefully) sold to the subject later. This unique survivor has a 12cm f4.5 Tessar lens in a Compur shutter and is in working order although 'film' plane pressure plate has become detached (included). Comes with an extremely rare part-roll of contemporary paper negatives shot with this actual camera. For a video of this and the two similar lots, see our YouTube page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF8PAHjpb4g&t=46s. (Cabinet V)
