ARMSTRONG NEIL: (1930-2012) American Astronaut, Commander of Apollo XI (1969). The first man to walk on the moon. An unusual large signed colour 16 x 15.5 photograph (printed on a stiff plastic with a gloss laminate surface by the Swedish camera manufacturers Hasselblad) by Armstrong, the image depicting astronaut Jim Irwin standing in a full length pose on the moon alongside a lunar rover during the Apollo XV mission, July-August 1971. Signed by Armstrong in bold black ink (?) with his name alone to a clear area of the image. The signature is very slightly scratchy in a few places as a result of slightly poor adhesion to the laminate finish. A small custom designed hole appears in each corner. VG The Swedish manufacturer of cameras and photographic equipment, Victor Hasselblad AB, supplied camera equipment to NASA for the Apollo programme missions. Almost all of the still photographs taken during these missions were made using modified Hasselblad cameras.
