LUMIERE LOUIS: (1864-1948) French Filmmaker, inventor (with his brother Auguste) of the cinematograph film camera, making it possible to project film onto a screen for audiences. A.L.S., Louis Lumiere, two pages, 8vo, Cours Gambetta, Lyon, 2nd November 1921, to a Doctor, in French. Lumiere informs his correspondent that he will be travelling to Paris and staying there on the 7th & 8th November and would be obliged if he could arrange an appointment in order to have his vocal cords examined, further adding that his preference would be for the Monday afternoon as he also wishes to attend the session of the Académie des sciences. In concluding Lumiere asks for the doctor's confirmation by return of mail and sends his thanks. Two small pinholes to the upper edge of the first page and some very slight traces of former mounting to the right edge of the final page, only very slightly affecting a few words of text which remain perfectly legible.
