Portrait of a lady, Kishangarh, North India, early 19th century, opaque pigments on paper heightened with gold and silver, depicted in profile and reclining against a silver and floral bolster cushion, her arm raised, she rests her head against one hand, and smells a pink blossom, her clothes are heavily adorned with gold and she wears multiple strings of pearls and gems around her neck, her gold patterned turban is embellished with further jewels, a white marble wall is behind her with blue sky and green floor spread, within pink border with gold flowers, 14 x 10cm. The elongated head and stylized eye are typical of a figural type that emerged in the Kishangarh court in the late eighteenth centuryCondition Report: Borders trimmed; glued down on backing and glued down on mount
