A Continental silver-gilt and jewelled ewer and stand, in Renaissance style, the ewer with over-turned rim engraved with scrolls, above a slender neck continuing to a shoulder applied with four floral sprigs, spaced by three pearl set sprigs, over an ovoid body with C-scroll castings and engraved scrolls, set with six collet set oval cut garnets and three further circular cut garnets, similarly set into a raised mount on a cobalt blue enamel roundel, the circular foot set with three collet set circular cut garnets and three floral sprays, spaced by three pearl set sprigs, the S-scroll handle cast with a phoenix, maker PV, stamped 925; the circular engraved stand similarly set with pearls and garnets. A silver necklace in the Arts and Crafts style, designed as thirteen graduating double flower head links, the largest front link of four flowerheads, all joined on articulated oval links, held on an integral tongue clasp disguised as a further flowerhead link, with safety chain. A Chinese export silver coffee pot and milk jug, by CJ Co., Shanghai c.1920, of spot hammered bulbous form, the milk jug with banded handle and gilt interior, the coffee pot inscribed, `Presented to 2nd Lieutenant J Waddell by the officers and members of the Machine Gun Company Shanghai Volunteer Corps on his marriage 15 June 1921`, 23cm high, and both monogrammed, CJ Co. of Shanghai, also known as the China Jewelry Company, made high quality pieces ranging from large items of hollow ware to small novelty trinkets, such as miniature rickshaws.
A Chinese export silver snuff box, unmarked, 19th century,of rectangular form, the cover and base with raised scenes of warriors, with foliate borders, gilt interior, 6.75 x 4.5cm CONDITION REPORT: Detail is rubbed on all sides. A Burmese silver bowl, late 19th century, of circular form decorated with a continuous scene of dancing figures, with a stiff leaf frieze below and scrolling foliage above, with peacock signature to base, 16cm diameter See page 41 in `Indian Silver 1848-1947` by Wynyard R T Wilkinson. The peacock signature was used in various forms by different silversmiths, all of whom were indirectly claiming past royal patronage. Their work is always of top quality. They are known for their original designs and reproductions of some of MexicoÉs famous pre-Hispanic silver.
