Edwardian silver bowl in the form of tapered circular form, with a band of chased foliate decoration and twin loop handles (Birmingham 1909) - maker Millicent Sutherland, base engraved with coronet and initials - D S C G, for the Duchess of Sutherland`s Cripples Guild, all at approximately 19.5ozs, 23.5cm overallN.B: The Duchess of Sutherland started her charity in 1898 and started metalwork in 1902. The name was changed to Duchess of Sutherland`s Cripples Guild in 1907. The object of the Guild was to help crippled children to obtain proper surgical treatment and appliances and to see that they got some education. The Duchess died in 1955

The mount is heavily tarnished but appears in good order, the marks are clear. The glass body is in good condition with only a couple of minor nicks and scratches to the glass. The stand is also silver (not silver plate) and bears the same mark as the collar on the decanter
