A most unusual pair of brass barrelled 20 bore flintlock sidelock large travelling or small holster pistols, c 1810, 9?" overall, stepped 3 stage barrels 5?" cut down from a pair of holster pistol barrels of c 1700, stepped locks with French style cocks, raised pans and rollers on frizzen springs, the entire lock plates, cocks and steel faced frizzens of brass, the plates engraved with armorial shield and motto "Diligentia Ditat" in ribbon; plain walnut fullstocks with rounded butts and small silver escutcheons engraved with crest, plain brass mounts, brass tipped ramrods, one with steel worm. An 18 bore flintlock holster pistol by Nicholson, c 1700, 20" overall, 3 stage barrel 13" with octagonal breech bearing London and maker's proofs, rounded banana shaped lock with unbridled frizzen, the plate engraved with beaded border, winged beast and maker's name, banded burr walnut bulbous fullstock with scrolled silver sideplate, baluster throat pipe and foliate tear drop escutcheon, plain steel trigger guard. GWO & QGC (the original long spurred butt cap replaced in antiquity by a plain domed brass one, cock and 4" of fore end with ramrod pipe replaced, a few splits to stock) Plate 15
A USA Society sword, DE plated blade 27?", etched with knight, trophy mounted figures and castle within gilt washed scrolled panels, ornamental enamelled silver plated crossguard with motto and knight's head pommel, chain knucklebow, stained blue grip with cross and initials MC, in its plated scabbard with ornamental mounts en suite with hilt. GC (maker's and owner's names ground from blade).
A USA Society sword, DE blade 26", by The MC Lilley & Co, Columbus, Ohio, etched with knights, mounted figures, trophies and owner's name George Robbins Mount in gilt washed panels, ornamental enamelled silver plated crossguard and knight's head pommel, black grip with cross, in its silver plated scabbard with ornamental mounts ensuite with hilt.
