A 17th century cup hilt rapier, slender blade 39 in. with flamboyant edges, short fuller marked IACOB BRACH SOLINGEN; cup shaped guard with pierced and chased decoration composed of four tiers of staggered hoops each occupied by a fleur de lis, interior lined with a smaller concave plate - similarly embellished, long quillons and knuckle bow of twist and beaded form and with flower head terminals, compressed spherical pommel chased with fleurs de lis, grip bound with braided silver wire.
