1952 Bentley Mark VI standard steel saloon - Registration OFO 520, chassis No.B83BU,. 6 cylinder 4.566cc engine - manual gearbox, MOT until February 2009. An excellent example of this classic 1950s Bentley finished in two tone silver with blue/grey hide upholstery. The current owner bought it in 1988 with a mileage of 100,000. It has now covered 124,600 miles, which is believed genuine and is supported by a very extensive Service history going back to 1965. Included in the file is a bill for a restoration carried out in the 1990s including attention to the bodywork, interior leatherwork and mechanical items to bring the car up to its current excellent standard. A Small 19th Century Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy. The domed tortoiseshell top opening to reveal an interior drop in lid with an ivory knop handle. The serpentine front having an oval silver lock-plate and standing 3¼ ins (8 cms) high, 5½ ins (14 cms) wide and 3½ ins (9 cms) deep on ivory bun feet.
A Splendid Quality Early Victorian Rosewood Vanity Box edged in brass trim with inlaid stringing and recessed swing handles to the sides. The interior fitted with a fold-down mirror to the lid, partitioned lift-out trays and compartments lined in leather & emerald green velvet and accommodating a variety of mother-of pearl handled implements and cut glass bottles & jars with silver lids hallmarked London 1837 and stamped with maker's initials TD. 14 ins x 10 ins x 7½ ins (36 cms x 25.5 cms x 19 cms).
A Pair of Neo-Classical Sheffield Plated Candle-sticks, a Claret jug & a pair of decanters. The sticks having oval candle cups with detachable edge-reeded nozzles raised on faceted tapering columns leading down to the radial fluted oval bases 11¾ ins high. The pressed glass claret jug with silver plated mounts. The decanters with pressed conical bodies and pointed knop stoppers.
A Walker & Hall Silver Plated Ice Bucket. The lid surmounted by a finely brass recumbent stag above cylindrical ceramic sides speckled with a simulated granite glaze and fitted into a dished tray-form base raised on three squat bun feet, with a swing handle to the top, 11 ins (28 cms) in height.
A Pair of 18th Century Sheffield Plated Wine Coasters having turned wooden bases and reeded out-flared sides with beaded edging, and a pair of shallow turned wooden dishes lined in silvered metal and decorated with silver mounts embossed with the emblems of the Chinese year in scrolling panels along the base, 5 ins (13 cms) in diameter, 2¼ ins (6 cms) in height.
A Charming Silver-Plated Casket Writing Set. The dome top enriched with a reeded & bow border above panelled sides on squat bun feet. The similarly fashioned interior set with two crystal inkwells and a central lidded pot with acorn finial. 4¼ ins (11 cms) high, 8¼ ins (21 cms) wide and 4 ins (10 cms) deep.
A Large 18th Century Continental Silver Chalice (A/F). The raised lid having a crucifix finial; opening to reveal a gilded interior. The baluster knop column embossed with acanthus leaves above a protruding laurel wreath collar. The raised base embossed with three roundels depicting symbolic grapevine, eagle and a cherub between three panels depicting the Rock, the Menorah, and the Arc. 12½ ins (32 cms) in height.
A Matched 18th Century Silver Cruet Set. The cinquefoil stand hallmarked London 1752 & stamped with JD script maker's initials. The central stem with handle surrounded by five bottle hoops & two stopper rings, standing on broken scroll legs with fanned shell feet and having a small Rococo scrolling cartouche engraved with a wading bird to the front. The stand housing two silver topped facet cut glass cruet bottles stamped SW, and three fine silver castors hallmarked London 1747 with Samuel Wood maker's punch, and ornately pierced and engraved finialed bell tops.
A Renaissance Revival Silver Plated Four Branch Candelabrum. The candle cups with detachable nozzles on U- shaped arms attached by foliate crested rods to a central stem. The stem surmounted by a flaming urn finial with an ornate lobed baluster knop cast with foliate designs above a quatrefoil base adorned with clusters of fruit and turned finials raised on scroll feet, 16 ins (41 cms) in height.
A Cut Glass & Silver Plated Three Bottle Decanter Set. The octagonal baluster decanters with star cut bases and facet cut pointed stoppers set in ring holders alternated with small stopper holding rings. The triform base with foliate crested edge moulding enriched by chased flowers and shell motifs on open scrolling feet with a central entwined branch form handle.
A Late Victorian Silver Brush Set comprising of two hair brushes, two clothes brushes and a hand mirror all backed in embossed silver decorated with scrolling foliage surrounding pictorial cartouches featuring Cupid kissing a lady and entitled 'The Dream of Love', hallmarked Birmingham 1901. Another silver backed brush with embossed scrolling foliate decoration hallmarked Birmingham 1904.
A Fine Continental Silver Bread Basket. The serpentine shaped sides having a beaded edge, pierced with scrolling foliate forms and engraved peacocks. The base raised in a convex fashion above small flared feet decorated at the hip with flowers. 5 ins (13 cms) in height, 13½ ins (34 cms) wide, 9 ins (23 cms) deep.
A Group of Three Giltwood Lamp Bases; one having a gilt baluster knopped column with an Italian hexagonal shade decorated with Leonardo da Vinci sketches, measuring 21 ins (53 cms) in height; one silver gilt triangular form column with crested knops bearing swags, foliate bands and mirrored inserts; 33 ins (84 cms) in height. One with a tapering and ringed column rising from a wide fluted pedestal base; 31½ ins (80 cms) in height.
A Fine George I Walnut Veneered Silver Table. The quarter veneered top of good colour & patination with ebony & boxwood stringing to the border, inverted corners quadrants with double cross grained outer border and moulded edge. The shaped & curved sides adjoining the elegantly swept cabriole legs accentuated by stringing, terminating on unusual pointed club feet. 26 ins (66 cms) high, 29 ins (74 cms) wide and 18 ins (46 cms) deep.
A Fine 19th Century Mahogany Silver table. The rectangular top having a fret carved gallery of intricate trelliswork measuring 22 ins x 33 ins (56 cms x 84 cms) standing on square tapering stop-fluted legs with pierced brackets to the corners united by an X-frame stretcher, 29 ins (74 cms) in height.
A Pair of Fine Late 17th Century Carved, Gessoed & Silver Gilt Side Chairs. The high pierced backs crested with broken S-scrolls flanking a plume of foliage above three tall intricately open carved splats and turned side supports surmounted by carved finials. The upholstered seats now covered in olive green velvet edged in tasseled fringe and standing on S-scroll legs united by curved X-form stretchers, 51 ins (130 cms) in height, 20 ins (51 cms) wide.
