The past president Sir Hugh Casson, described his landscapes as being of National Importance. Born in a small mining village, in County Durham, he was encouraged by his art teacher at the age of just 14 to paint and understand the importance of light and its pivotal role in Art History. His work revolves around this traditional English Landscape, its changing weather and a true backbone of Art History in this country. He qualified as a Chartered Architect in 1979 and is the director of a Private Architects Practice in Cumbria having worked most of his professional life in Southern England and London. He now lives closer to the landscape he loves". www.malcolmwilson.com]
