Wales, Quarter-Ounce Welsh gold sovereign medal 1989, Dragon left, WELSH GOLD 1/4 OZ AUR CYMRU 1989 around, rev. harp with laurel and oak, daffodil, stylised Welsh maiden, ARGRAFFIAD CYFYNGEDIG (limited mintage) around, numbered on edge 0323, 18ct., in Royal Mint case of issue with certificate. Mint state, scarce Note: The gold was mined at Gwynfynydd, near Dolgellau, operative from 1887 to 1998. We note that another example made £2100 hammer in auction in 2017

SILVER RATHMINES SCHOOL etc PRIZE MEDALS. 1. A cased silver Trinity College Dublin medal, 51mm diameter. No provision for a mounting ring, in its originally labelled Woodhouse, 11 Harrington St, Dublin fitted case. The medal has a Queen Elizabeth 1 obverse, with COLL.SS.ET.INDIVID. TRIN. REG. ELIZABETHAE. JUXTA. DVBL. 1591. The initials WW and JW are evident. The obverse reads LIT. REGENT. FELICITER.EXCULTIS, with the College Arms and shamrocks etc. Engraved to Carolus E Osborne 1881. Weight 62.2 grams. 2. A 46mm diameter silver Trinity College medal with mounting ring present, again with the College Arms of a Castle, Lion, Harp, Portcullis, Tudor Rose etc on the obverse. Engraved on the reverse is Oratory C E Osborne 1879. 3. A 44mm diameter silver prize medal, lacking its suspension ring. Rathmines School Rev Dr Benson Headmaster Easter 1870, engraved on the reverse. Also Ora Et Labora, Holy Scripture, Charles Edw Osborne Angelic figure obverse with Thy Word Is A Lamp Onto My Feet And Light Unto My Path. Weight 31.1 grams. 4. Another as per the last description, with ring suspension present. Obverse the same the reverse reads, Rathmines School. Rev Dr Benson Master. Ora Et Labora. English History. Charls Edwd Osborne . Christmas 1872. Weight 31.9 grams 5. A silver 43mm diameter prize medal, with Owl and Books, Globes etc, obverse. Cast into the reverse letters read, Ora Et Labora. Rathmines School. Rev Dr Benson . ^ Irish Presentation Infantry Officer’s Sword Spadroon of the 3rd Royal Dublin Volunteers, 1797, straight diamond-section blade, iron hilt, sideguard pierced and engraved with crowned Irish harp supported by a pair of cannon on carriages, side loop and quillon terminal both with decorative applied studs, facetted pommel, chequered ivory grip with large silver ‘cigar band’ engraved in script ‘Presented to Captn. H.A.Woodward by the Genn. of his Compy as a Small Token of their respect and Esteem for him’ and on the reverse ‘3rd Regt of Royal Dubn Volu. or Barrack Devis,n and 4th Comp.y Dec,r 7th 97’. Overall 97cms, blade 81cms. Generally good untouched condition, blade and hilt lightly pitted and age worn with a few small pieces missing from edges of blade.
A George III Irish silver sugar basin and milk jug, Dublin 1811, makers marks unclear, the two handled oblong sugar basin and helmet shape milk jug with gadroon rims, foliate engraved corners and two oval cartouches, one engraved with a monogram, the milk jug also with an initial 'B' in a cartouche, each on four ball feet and a teapot, of large size, in similar style, stamped 'Heylax', rounded oblong, with an upper frieze of leafy scrollwork and two cartouches, both with a monogram, wooden harp handle and finial to the domed hinged cover, 40ozs weight combined (3). *** All with at least one matching monogram Illustrated
