19th century maple and gilt wood concert harp by Sebastian Erard, patent number 6446 having fluted column with moulded saint and angels figures, seven pedals, raised on feet formed as snarling, spread winged bats. 178cm approximately height at tallest point. (B.P. 21% + VAT) Sound board overall appearing in good condition with no obvious cracks or splits. Some damage to gilt wood including loss to finials and some pieces that need to be fixed in more securely. Splits in places to the column of the wood. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. Not all strings are complete and probably requires re-stringing and improvement in places.

Montague, Hampshire Regiment A privately produced bronze small plaque in memory of Lieutenant Richard Headley Montagu, 8th (Isle of Wight Rifles) and 15th (Hampshire Carabineers) Battalions Hampshire Regiment, who was killed in action at the Third Battle of Ypres on 21 September 1917, 95mm x 68mm, bearing the crests of Rugby School, Balliol College, Oxford, The Hampshire Regiment, the Scales of Justice, the Masonic Square and Compass, and a King David Harp, residue on reverse from removed clip and slight damage at six o’clock, where a tassel emblem has bent, otherwise good condition £50-£70 --- Richard Headley Montagu, Hampshire Regiment, was killed in action having been struck by a shell at the Third Battle of Ypres on 21 September 1917. A solicitor, educated at Rugby School (where he became Head of his House) and Balliol College, Oxford, he was a son of the distinguished numismatist Hyman Moses, who later changed his surname to Montagu. A Freemason and member of Royal York of Perseverance Lodge (No. 7), he is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, the Rugby School Memorial, the Balliol College Memorial and the Masonic Roll of Honour 1914-18. A photograph of him, available online, is held by the Imperial War Museum. Sold with copied service papers.
