Large and interesting English ebonised triple fusee musical table clock, the substantial six pillar movement with foliate engraved back plate, fitted with a 5.5" musical cylinder striking on a nest of fourteen bells, the 10" square brass dial signed Paul Beauvais on a recessed silvered plate to the matted centre with ringed winding holes and calendar aperture, enclosed by a silvered chapter ring and surmounted by subsidiary calendar and Bonnie Charlie/Duncan, Davison/Logie of Buchan/Devil's Dream tune selector dials, also with a silent strike lever above twelve o'clock, within an impressive ormolu mounted case fitted with a base drawer to house a spare cylinder (missing) and swivel stepped base, with ornate pierced cast side handles and glazed sides, surmounted by a caddy top with four turned finials and the naked standing figure of a man playing a small harp, 30" high overall, with pendulum and door key (alterations)
Dated 1677 AD. Fourth bust. Obv: profile bust with CAROLVS II DEI GRATIA legend. Rev: cruciform arms with eight harp strings and interlocking CCs to angles with MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX legend and date. Edge: with raised DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI VICESIMO NONO inscription. 14.63 grams. S. 3367; ESC 6th 475 (old 479"). [No Reserve] Fine; few small abrasions. Scarce.
An unusual 1796 pattern sword for an Irish light cavalry officer, curved, shallow fullered blade 30”, with spear point, by J Read, Dublin, etched on one side with crown, Irish harp and trophy, and on the other with standing Britannia and trophy, both sides surmounted by a foliate bonnet device, gilt stirrup hilt with rounded triangular langets each bearing a prominent applied lion’s head, facetted knucklebow, lion’s head pommel and facetted backstrap, wirebound leather grip, in its black leather scabbard with gilt brass locket, middle band and chape with 2 rings, the locket engraved I. Read, College Green. Very Good Condition, the blade retaining approximately 70% blueing and gilding, the hilt 80% gilt, and the scabbard mounts 20% gilt. A mixed group of openwork bronze mounts comprising: two harp-shaped; two heart-shaped; three rectangular; four tongue-shaped; two with hooked bar beneath; one a pair of trefoils; one D-shaped with hinge straps above; two with scrolled edges; two with circular holes. Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1980s. 98 grams total, 18-28mm (3/4 - 1"). [19, No Reserve] Fine condition.

SAINT-SAËNS CAMILLE: (1835-1921) French Composer. A.L.S., C. Saint-Saëns, one page, 4to, grid paper, Paris, 1st March 1883, to an unknown correspondent, in French. Saint-Saëns states `The Grand Theater is about to perform Henry VIII, and I promised to keep an eye on the last rehearsals of my work and on artists performing the premiere. I am not able to provide exactly the period of this representation, and therefore I cannot promise you that I will go to Anvers, although I am very grateful to you for the lyre and harp performance.´ The letter has been neatly laid down to a card. With a small stain only partially affecting the flourish beneath the composer´s signature. VG £150-200 On 5th March 1883, four days after the present letter was written, took place in Paris the premiere of Saint Saëns opera Henry VIII.

Easter Week 1916: A large hand-painted and hand-made collage picture The Leaders of Easter Week 1916 - Who Answered Irelands Call 1916, with large central depiction of Hibernia playing the harp, surrounded by C. Colbert, J. Connolly, P.H. Pearse, J.J. Heuston, T. Mc Donagh, J. Mc Dermott, T.J. Clarke, E. Daly, W. Pearse, T. Ashe, J. Plunkett & The O'Rahilly within a Celtic decorated border, with soldiers in military uniform, approx. 16 1/2" x 28 1/2", on a panel with remains of painting of "Four Courts" on reverse, in painted frame. The Knocklong Fenian & Land League Banner Co. Limerick: A magnificent and extremely rare historical Banner on green cloth (possibly silk), approx. 7' x 4'6", mounted on a carrying pole with accompanying braided rope, with the gilt words 'GOD MADE OUR / LAND A NATION,' over a painted landscape, and below the words 'A NATION IT MUST BE,' reverse inscribed with 'KNOCKLONG.' The landscape panel very well painted, includes the usual Fenian symbols, round tower, ruined church, cross, harp and sunrise. A little wear but in very good condition considering its age and size. (1) Provenance: To the present vendor from his great-grandfather by inheritance. Reputed to have been used at the Kilmallock Rising and subsequent events.
