A mixed group of silver and silver-plate items comprising: a silver fork with palmette detail marked with 'HK' monogram, 'RF' maker's mark, lion and facing lion mask (London) date letter indistinct; a silver-plate fork with palmette detail, marked 'EPNS'; five substantial plated forks with crown over 'EP' and other marks; a spoon with palmette detail, 'HK' monogram, 'TF' maker's mark, profile bust, Britannia, a crowned harp (Dublin), date letter 'L' (1831); a plain spoon with ovoid bowl, with maker's mark 'HA', crown (Sheffield), lion passant, date letter 'g' (1830); a pair of sugar tongs with maker's mark 'JS', crown (Sheffield), lion passant, date letter 'g' (1830"). 675 grams total, 10.5-21cm (4 1/4 - 8 1/4"). Selection of Connaught Rangers Collar Badges, consisting of Victorian harp patterns in brass, silver plate and blackened. Kings crown pattern in bullion wire. Elephants in brass, silver plate and white metal. Early pre 1881 sheet brass elephant collar badge. Bronze cap badge style harp and scroll collar badge with three lug fittings on the reverse. Scarce Roscommon Militia harp in shamrock wreath collar badges (still worn when they became 5th battalion). All remain in generally good condition. (25 items)

28th (London Irish) Middlesex Rifle Volunteers Victorian Officer’s tunic button. A fine scarce silvered example ‘Extra Treble Standard’. Crowned Harp within ‘Irish Volunteers’ strap. Complete with shank. VGC Approx. 24 mm. Originally raised in 1860 by Customs Officers in the London Docks, renumbered 15th Middlesex RV in 1881 becoming a VB of the Rifle Brigade amalgamating with 2nd Tower Hamlets in 1908 to form 17th Bn. Circlet inscribed “Leicestershire Regiment”; seeded gilt centre mounted with silver “Hindoostan” scroll surmounting Royal Tiger resting on a Maid of Erin Harp. Universal pattern rococo belt loops. 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars Officer’s Mess Jacket worn by the Head of MI3 A good example of the post 1902 pattern by Welsh & Jefferies, St. James’s London. Blue cloth trimmed with black gimp and Russia braid. Plain roll collar, bearing the Maid of Erin harp in silver embroidery. False pockets of Russia braid. Sleeves trimmed with gimp, traced with Russia, forming a loop above the cuff, the tracing forming eyes above and below. Backseam ornaments of gimp with a Russia crowsfoot at the waist behind. Plain gimp shoulder-loops, bearing small Lieutenant Colonel’s rank-badges. Fine quilted lining, the tailor’s label named to Col F. Thornton Feb. 1936 ... Accompanied by a Hussar officer’s blue serge “Frock B” with waistband and bellows side pockets. Plain gilt half-ball buttons. Collar-badges and rank-badges absent ... Also an officer’s overalls with double yellow stripes. (3 items) Frank Thornton, an Officer in the 16th Lancers, was severely wounded in WW1 and then served in Russia in 1919-20. By 1936 he was Lieut.-Colonel in the 8th Hussars. In WW2 he was Deputy Director of Military Intelligence and head of M.I.3. The “Frock B” described in 1911 Dress Regulations was the short-lived open collar alternative to the usual undress tunic.

A massive late-Victorian two-handled silver trophy cup and cover, by Elkington and Co, Birmingham 1894, circular form, foliate girdle with roses, above acanthus leaf decoration, scroll handles terminating in stags' heads, the pull-off cover with a stylised border and with a detachable unmarked finial of a gentleman holding a gun, possibly electroplate, on a raised circular foot with foliate decoration, standing on a raised circular ebonised plinth applied with a silver plaque inscribed 'Pigeon Shooting DEC 15th & 18th 1897 World Championship Cup and £100, at Hendon, Won by J. Blake, total height on plinth 100cm,, approx. weighable 193oz. This cup is sold with an original card inscribed ' Pigeon Shooting Championship. This cup for the championship of the World for winged shooting with £100 added money be shot for at the Welsh Harp, Hendon on Wednesday and Thursday the 15th and 16th December. For full particulars see 'Sportsman' Public admitted to the ground on payment. Won by Mr. J. Blake, Park Villia, Tiverton.' Mr Joe Blake of Tiverton beat 110 other competitors to win this £200 trophy cup and £100, by shooting fifteen pigeon in a row. The runner-up was Mr. F. Gibbs. Mr Blake won many competitions and became a local celebrity. His name was used in an advert in the Shooting Times and British Sportsman on 12 August 1899 by Charles Boswell practical Gunmaker. This lot is sold with some photocopies of contemporary newspaper articles about Joe Blake.

Durting, dated 1882, worked in red with alphabet, numerals and sample motifs including names Ada, Lizzie, Grace, Frances, Annie, Alice and Henry over smaller motifs including horses, birds, ships, a snail and a harp, on fine linen, 29.5 x 35.5cm, framed and glazed, 42.5 x 48.5cm max.

Tune indicator with harp decoration and zither attachment to the comb. Mechanism mounted on a brass bedplate and contained within a burr walnut case with ornate brass handles.
