The top section is adapted with some typical old decay particularly around the rear legs.

Liberty and Co. after Philip Webb for Morris and Co., an ebonised Sussex chair, circa 1880s, the turned, incised and steam bent supports with four lozenge form ribbed and turned bobbin spindles, above a double bar back stretcher, the tapered front legs with mushroom feet united by a concave double dowel front stretcher, rush seat, seat 44cm high, 87cm high overall Note: a slightly altered design which appears in the Liberty and Co. catalogues of the late 19th century, the chair retains the original distinctive spindle design used on the Morris examples.

They are quite dirty from just general use, but look like they would clean up easily. The seat pads are not torn, the joints are tight. Quite a bit of light overall wear to the wood, but no obvious losses or repairs.

The rush seat woven in a solid pad with square wooden corners. The bobbin legs united by a 'X' stretcher. Measures approx; cm x 40cm x 40cm.
