A Fine Carved & Inlaid Oak Child`s Wainscot Chair with drawer. The arcaded back panel inlaid with a flowering plant inside an arch of carved S-scrolls surmounted by a heavy bulge-front top rail carved with undulating foliage. The run-moulded uprights with S-scroll `ear-pieces`. The arms on bobbin turned supports leading down to the seat and side opening drawer raised on turned legs with square feet united by peripheral stretchers. 32 ins (81 cms) high, 20 ins (51 cms) wide, 18 ins (46 cms) deep.
A 17th Century Oak Wainscot Chair, the top rail carved JAMES HAYNE defined on a matted ground with an upper and lower string of punchwork moons & stars. The back panel intricately carved with an interlaced knot encircling rosette wheels. One of the down-swept arms stamped SSS and both raised on finely turned bobbin supports above corresponding legs; joined by block stretchers.[Provenance- Grimshaw Hall, Knowle. A Set of Six Late 17th/Early 18th Century Oak Derbyshire Back-stools. The arched, scallop-topped back rails carved with scrolling pendant leaves surrounding flower head roundels. The uprights adorned with split spindles appliqués and having voluted lobe terminals. The plank seats above bobbin turned front rails and plain side stretchers.
