A 19th Century cut glass bowl with swag decoration to the top, possibly Irish, together with two cut glass candlesticks, a decanter and dressing bottle, together with two pairs of modern Portuguese gilt decorated twin handled vases CONDITION REPORTS Bobbin stemmed candlestick approx 25.5 cm tall. Large chip to the rim and light scratches. Square candlestick is approx 24 cm has some light scratches. Bowl is 30 cm wide at widest point, some light scratches. Red vase is approx 34.5 cm tall, light scratches., scuffs and marks, wear to the gilt work. White vase is 35 cm tall, wear to the gilt works, some light scratches, scuffs etc. Decanter with broken end to the stopper. Other bottle - some light scratches.
Late 18th Century Aqua Silk Calash Bonnet, several tiers of ruching towards a flat rear panel, gathered at the neck with a silk ribbon, plain fabric to shield back of the neck, lined in dark cream silk throughout; and a Similar Black Silk Example, with shorter neck frill, ruching to rear panel, additional bobbin lace to front, lined in pink silk (2)Aqua example - Substantially faded in the folds, wear to front edge, wear to ribbons, some discolouration and a split to back exterior panel. Neck frill with bleaching which reaches up into the bonnet at left hand side. Lining grubby but appears intact. Generally fair condition commensurate with age. Black example - generally good, some wear to neck frill lining and lower edge of bonnet lining.
Girl's Mid-19th Century Cerise Short Sleeved Dress, with two frills to skirt, front gather to bodice, made with fine wool, some parts lined in cream glazed cotton; Mid-19th Century eau de Nil Silk Dress, front buttoning, trimmed with dark purple velvet, covered silk buttons, bobbin lace edging to neck and a different lace to sleeves; Girl's Sprigged Cream Cotton Short Sleeved Day Dress and Sun Bonnet, bearing hand written label attributing the date of 1858, broderie anglaise trim to neck and sleeves; a Child's Mid-19th Century Black Velvet Jacket, with long sleeves, edged in red silk, metal buttons and brown glazed cotton lining; together with Four Ladies 19th Century Reticules, of various sizes; Checked Beige and Lilac Silk Apron, with tassel tie cord and decoration to front pockets; Late 19th Century Cream and Beige Apron, with crochet borders (10) Cerise wool dress - faded to front bodice, foxed on rear bodice, fade in places on skirt, some wear to frills. Eau De Neil dress - silk generally foxed and faded, small areas of damaged. Cotton dress - some foxing throughout, some wear to rear bodice fastening area, rear seam needs re-securing, bonnet is grubby. Velvet jacket - generally sound with exception of wear to red silk border, all buttons present, one hole to centre front bottom scallop. Reticules - some overall wear to fabric commensurate with age. Checked apron - silk distressed. Cream and beige apron - some staining but generally ok overall.
Late 19th Century Mother-of-Pearl Fan, signed by Boillat, with gauze painted leaf surrounded by hand made Brussels bobbin lace, the lace unusually featuring trees which border the vignettes, one of which depicts a maiden robed in pink reaching for foliage, the other panels depicting tranquil scenery and birds in flight, with a large silk tassel, bone leaf supports, mother-of-pearl engraved and carved to sticks and guard sticks, contained in cream silk box; a Late 19th Century Machine Lace and Bone Fan, the cream floral lace alternating with panels of painted gauze, depicting lemon flowers, daisies and birds, with both sticks; and an Early 20th Century Mother-of Pearl and Gilded Shaped Fan, cream fabric leaf depicting courting couple in earlier costume, two side vignettes depicting pairs of doves, both guard sticks carved with a figure, flowers and foliage to top quarter (3) Provenance (Bolliat): Previous auctioneer label for Mitchell's, 28/05/98Late 19th Century Fan - lower guard stick broken and repaired in two places, some folds in gauze getting thin, lace very slightly discoloured, MOP with greeny tinge. Bone and lace fan - very slight foxing on leaf, generally sound. Mother-of-pearl - foxing and wear to leaf, particularly to the left side, staining visible from behind, glue residue.
18th Century Fine Yellow Silk Open Robe and Matching Petticoat, Circa 1770-1780, woven with floral sprays, trimmed with pleated silk, three tiers of bobbin lace to each cuff and with matching lace around collar Robe - Slight staining under the arms, right arm hole with minor splitting and slight discolouration. Bodice neckline pleated trim is incomplete up to the shoulder. Later addition of underarm protectors to interior of robe. Train skirt is partially lined with fine cream silk, later reinforced as wear is evident on both inner lining and yellow silk to centre back, wear is visible all around the trained part. Petticoat - top third of petticoat has extensive splitting and flaking to the silk, the lower two thirds are in better condition. Thumbnail sized stain (knee level) to left hand side.
Late 19th / Early 20th Century Padded Night Dress Case, the interior of quilted eau de Nil silk, the exterior of a fine white cotton lawn embroidered in white with a central seam of an Alpine chalet with a flower garden, tie ribbon fastening; together with Matching Draw String Vanity Bag; and a Similar Glove / Handkerchief Case, in eau de Nil silk, the cotton front panel finely embroidered with two flower baskets and swags of flowers, tie ribbon fastening (all three possibly from St. Gall, Switzerland); together with Three White Baby Bonnets, each with Ayrshire embroidered crowns, one with front frills and gathers over the head, a simplistic embroidered example and a third example with piping and white embroidery; Two 1920's Crochet Baby Bonnets; a Quantity of Lace, comprising a narrow Carrickmacross tie, muslin appliqué tie, tape lace Bertha, length of Bruges bobbin flower lace, deep bobbin lace collar, pair of Carrickmacross lace cuffs, two pairs of crochet cuffs and Edwardian crochet jabot Two Ayrshire bonnet with damage to borders.
20th Century Large Bed Cover, in fine cream cotton lawn, appliquéd in a meandering design with swags inter-spaced with flower heads, the latter also embroidered and with needle lace fillings, deep border to three sides, an under layer attached in a plain fine cotton lawn, likely to be shadow appliqué work from Madeira, possibly for the retailer Marhab, 170cm by 220cm approx (excluding frill); together with an Early 20th Century Large Crochet Bed Cover, alternate panels of foliage and four cherubs, further crochet border to three sides, 308cm by 230cm approx; and a 20th Century Ecru Fine Linen Tablecloth, embellished with a central design and border of Bruges handmade bobbin lace, 270cm by 250cm approx (3) All appear in ok condition, would benefit from laundering.
