The chair is structurally sound. In my opinion elements are 17th and 19th Century and it was probably constructed in the 19th Century.

A 20TH CENTURY OAK RECTANGULAR TABLE, raised on four turned legs, united by a H stretcher, length 183cm x depth 76cm x height 76cm, along with a set of six oak dining chairs, including two carvers, with tanned leather upholstery, on turned supports and legs, united by a front bobbin turned stretcher and block stretchers (condition report: leather discoloured and stained, slight cracking, other imperfections) (7)
Local Interest* 'WILK' John William (Bill) Wilkinson (British 1906-1994) an amusing ink and watercolour caricature, entitled 'Believe It Or Not It Happened At Grasmere' a depiction of five 'tups' painted in the colours of the tricolor, the onlooking animals including 'The Lion and The Lamb' watching in astonishment, signed lower right, within a slender ebonised frame, under glass 40cm x 50cm & 42cm x 52cm overall. *'Wilk' or John William 'Bill' Wilkinson was born, lived and died in Brigham, Keswick. On leaving school he started work at a bobbin mill and went on to become a fitter for the Keswick Gas Company. In 1954 with his wife Mary he opened a shop in the front room of his house 'Greta Cottage'. He became famous for his gentle and amusing caricatures of Lakeland life and characters.

A late 17th century oak geometric moulded chest of drawers in two sections, rectangular three plank top with a moulded edge above four twin mitre moulded long drawers, all fitted with brass drop handles and escutcheons, between bobbin applied mounts, raised on bun feet100cm wide, 54cm deep, 96cm highPurchased from Bonhams on 9th January 2008The chest of drawers is in good condition for its age with wear commensurate with age. The top of the chest has lost colour and has a patch of discolouration to the back left. No missing moulding. Later replacement handles. A Lancashire oak joined chair. 17/18th century, the arched panel back with floral and foliate carving, solid seat , on turned square section legs, with a reel and bobbin turned stretcher, height 99cm, width 47cm, depth 48cm.The seat is a replacement. There are two splits in the legs, along with a few other splits, knocks, and wear from use.The back panel is somewhat worn it is unclear what has caused this, it does not appear to be woodworm.

Y AN EBONY AND EBONISED, IVORY MARQUETRY INLAID CABINET ON STAND PROBABLY ITALIAN, LATE 17TH CENTURY The cabinet with arrangement of drawers around a central cupboard, the cupboard presenting a panel depicting 'Our Lady of the Sacred Heart', the base with bobbin-turned supports 125cm high, 63cm wide, 38cm deep Provenance: Bonhams, Pictures, Furniture, Tribal, Islamic and European Works of Art, 12th June 2013, Lot 551Please note, Dreweatts have applied for a de minimis exemption licence for the ivory in this lot (Ref:RGPFC94S) Condition Report: There are minor losses and splits to veneers on the sides, some re-ebonising to colour in the losses. Some splits in the central ivory panel (depicting the Christian allegorical figure of Charity). Behind the central door is a recess with a mirror at the rear, and a shelf above which was originally fitted with a vertical division, now lacking. The cabinet was originally fitted with a fall front, fixed at the lower edge - there are four filled screw holes along the lower edge and two striking points in the upper edge for the flap to be held in place. The back panel has a horizontal split and a small replaced horizontal strip along the lower edge. The stand is sturdy but a little wobbly. Condition Report Disclaimer
