The Royal Wedding 1923 - The Handley Seymour Proto-Type for the Queen Mother`s Wedding Dress, in Medieval style of ivory crepe de chine applied with cloth of silver and pearl studded bands A silver and tulle train, a bobbin lace veil, scraps of silk and satin, a wreath of orange blossom and an unrelated petticoat, together with various related printed publications This gown was one of three bridal gowns produced by Madame Handley Seymour for the 1923 Royal Wedding This design was chosen for the wedding, the gown was then passed to one of the fashion house assistants, it was originally sold at Sotheby`s in 1987.
A circa 1870/80 Mahogany Diorama on chest. The mahogany case having moulded cornice and bobbin columns, on chest of three full width graduated drawers with mahogany liners and original wooden knobs. The Diorama case to the top full of stuffed native and exotic birds and animals, including finches, butterflies, owls, toucan, kingfishers, a multitude of rodents, a falcon, snake and kestrel, all mounted in, on and around a tree and rocks. 50`` W x 82 1/2`` H x 22 1/4``
A Victorian rosewood and mother of pearl inlaid rectangular workbox, marked J T Needs, 100 New Bond Street, S1 with Bramah lock, the silk lined blue lift out tray complete with six ivory and mother of pearl bobbin spools, mother of pearl knife and pick with carved handle, the hinged lid enclosing stationery drop letter rack, the central rectangular inlaid panel with mother of pearl carved crowned portrait. This workbox comes with a quantity of paperwork listing its ownership through the family from the original owner, Mary Ann Todd, 1820-1900, where it was passed down to her granddaughter Grace Morice, 1880-1961, who in turn left it to her daughter, Dorothy Crawford, 1918-1998, who in turn left it to her daughter, (the vendor)
Late 19th Century Honiton Bobbin Lace in two lengths. Both are decorated with large flower heads within a scalloped foliate border within a thin lace edging, the first section measures 250 cms long and 94 cms wide, the second section which is slightly darker and more yellow in colour measures 260 cms long and 94 cms wide (2).
