A pair of Derby porcelain figures in 16th Century dress, each in polychrome enamels, she wearing a pink hat with a bird, holding a feather, he wearing a black hat with a bird and white ruff on gilt lined C scroll circular bases, crossed baton and crown marks in iron red and initialled "LME", 25 cm high (2) CONDITION REPORTS Lady - general rubbing to gilding throughout and is quite dirty, there is some chipping to the end of the bird's tail with a feather missing from main tail and from ends of both wings, collar of her dress has a chip to one end right at the back of her head, little finger of hand holding the fan is broken off at end and end broken off finger nearest fan, fan has clearly been broken off at some point and quite crudely re-glued, also the hand has been broken off completely at some point and re-glued, the other arm has been broken off at the shoulder and re-glued and the other hand has also been broken off and re-glued, there is a circular hole just under her cap approx. pin head size which appears as if it occurred during the original firing, otherwise appears OK with general wear. Gentleman - chip to the end of bird's tail on his hat, some firing faults to base of collar at back, generally quite dirty with some rubbing throughout, at the base of the pink cloth with gilt decoration there is a deep firing fault running across one of the folds, there is a similar firing fault to the base of the pillar he is stiing on at the back, beak of the bird on his hat is completely missing, otherwise appears OK but with general wear.
