Auctioneers Note: Jacob Erat worked in the Erard factory as foreman in the late 18th Century and set up on his own at 100 Wardour St, later moving to Berners St in 1817. Following Jacob's death in 1821, his sons took over the business and continued making harps until 1858 Condition Report: restored in 2018 by Tecwyn Jones (report available on request). Some minor gesso borders partially lost, one string broken, otherwise excellent all round condition

It is thought that Cernunnos was the god of animals, as exemplified by the depiction of a god, possibly Cernunnos, on the large silver Iron Age 'Gundestrup cauldron' in the National Museum of Denmark, where the god is shown with antler horns, sitting cross-legged and surrounded by animals (see J.
