Such clients were ready commissioners of Alleyne's distinctive small format, highly finished works in the French style which was so fashionable at the time. The artist exhibited a few paintings in London: at the Society of Artists of Great Britain, the Free Society of Artists, and at the Royal Academy. His works were often signed and inscribed on the back.
