AN 18TH CENTURY STYLE MAHOGANY TWIN PILLAR EXTENDING DINING TABLEWith gadrooned border, on dual carved tripod supports, resting on paw feet, two include two extra leaves, 115cm wide; 204cm long; 306cm long fully extendedCondition report; This table is held together with clips (picture attached), there are only three clips. We believe this to be mahogany veneered. The table at full extension does not appear to bow. Light scratches to the top would benefit from a polish, some small splits to the wood, a small area where the veneer has bubbled. Deeper scratches to the ball feet consistent with use.

James Greene, London a mahogany pagoda top longcase clock having an eight-day duration, five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell, with a pair of brass bound weights, the twelve-inch break-arch brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and Arabic five-minute outer markings, the matted centre with a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture and silvered plaque engraved with the makers name James Greene, London, with cast-brass c-scroll spandrels to the four corners, the arch with a silvered boss with a hand setting to allow for strike/silent, the mahogany case with brass inset to the fluted hood columns, flame finials to the pagoda top and a raised panel to the base, all standing on a double plinth, height 236cm.Notes: James Greene is recorded as having been apprenticed in 1736 and then working in London from 1747 until at least 1777. John Waters, London a late-17th-century longcase clock the month duration, six-pillar movement (sixth pillar removed) having latched dial pillars and striking the hours on a bell with an outside countwheel, the eleven-inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring with engraved black Roman numerals and meeting-arrowhead half-hour markings, the matted centre with engraved decoration to the date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial, with cast-brass cherub-head spandrels to the four corners, with engraved decoration to the dial edge and later blued-steel hands, signed below the chapter ring John Waters, London, the later flat-top oak case with shaped door, quarter columns to the trunk and standing on a double plinth, height 189cm.Notes: John Waters was apprenticed to John North in July 1674 but being passed over to Nicholas Beck after a few months. He became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in 1682. Amongst the apprentices he took on in his working life was John Ellicott senior, being the father of John Ellicott junior who was to become a famed and eminent maker. In 1705 John Waters was made an Assistant to the Court of the Clockmakers Company but there is no record of him recorded after 1706.
