A late Victorian red leather covered fitted Travelling Vanity Box, by Clark, 20 Old Bond Street, the hinged lid with locking clasp and fitted with an easel backed mirror and stationery compartment, over two toilet water bottles, flanking a rectangular trinket box, with fitted compartment below, and further to folding trays containing further toiletry bottles and jars, curling tong heater and opening further to reveal an assortment of scissors, clippers, manicure items, corkscrew, button hook, pocket knife etc and a further concealed sprung compartments, to a void base, with ivory handled curling tongs and hand mirror (lacking) compartment to the fall front, (losses and replacement pieces), London 1885, Makers mark C B, C W B, J B

A pair of late Victorian oval miniatures on ivory of a Lady and Gentleman, the gentleman wearing hunting pink, the lady with lace collar to her dress and wearing a pearl necklace, in gold mounted and blue enamel glazed frames with cream silk backing, set in silk and velvet lined oval triptych easel back glazed leather covered cases. Painter Charles James Turrell, 1846-1932, both signed with the initials "C.T", and dated "1894". *See: 'A Dictionary of British Miniature painters, volume 2, By Daphne Foskett', plate 375 depicts a miniature of Alexandra, Princess of Wales, later Queen Alexandra, wife of King Edward VII, in an identical frame. Distinguished clientele including Queen Victoria, Princess Mary, the Queen of Norway, Visited the U.S.A in 1867, and painted members of many important families there, including those of J. Pierpont Morgan, Vanderbilt, and Barber.
